This season will be their last in the Metrodome. Their last game is against Iowa...it's going to be crazy.
Minnesota will eventually be good again... I'm not sure with this coaching regime, but they are at a pretty low point right now.... In my opinion, they have the money and resources to do more with their athletic programs than we do here.... I am not a hardcore fan or anything, but I do like to root for them, and I think eventually they will be alright.
That indeed. Iowa fans travel real well for this game... I think most of the attendence records for Gopher football in the dome are from Iowa games....
I really like what they're doing. I think almost everyone here would be estatic over a stadium like that - myself included.

I went to the game in 2006 (gross). It was an awesome time tailgating in 40 degree weather in mid November. The shear number of Iowans going up to see the game was amazing.
I have a feeling that if ISU and Minnesota had another series, there'd be a lot of ISU fans that make the trek up there as well.
This type of facility upgrade will naturally make them a more attractive program to recruits and thus the days of Iowa counting on a late season win against MN, maybe over. As far as fighting for recruits, I'm not sure how many of the same kids both MN and ISU go after. This could make it a bit more challenging for us at least in that regard. Not sure though…they still have to sell a kid from the south on the joys of playing in the Minneapolis' cold in November. That's a tough enough sell in Ames.

Not to mention there are a ton of alums from both ISU and UI that are from or have moved to the Twin Cities. That never hurts.
It gets cold in Michigan and Ohio State doesn't it? Doesn't stop big recruits from going there....
If you have a successful program, you will be able to get some big recruits.
We don't get big recruits because of lack of success, low recruiting budget, and not even being the most popular team in the state...
When we become more successful it will bring in more $ and we will also be more popular as casual fans like to root for a winner....
I said in a previous quote that I'm not sure if this staff is what will help the Gophers. Coming off a 1-11 season isn't going to make you look attractive at all, but that 1-11 season wasn't all Brewster's fault.
It will be a process, but MN does have some good talent in state, and MN is the most popular in state school for football. If they can get a steady stream of good local guys, everything else will open up.

The official capacity is 50,200 with it possibly being expanded to 75k-80k. I don't know why so many people throw 45k around when the numbers are right on the TCF Bank Stadium website.
