New Defensive commit

Where's the 4 star guys? I said this before but last years class had 4 guys that were rated higher than anyone we have coming in right now. That's not to say this staff isn't doing a great job; it's just to say the negative attitude clouded everyone's judgement on the types of guy the last staff was getting.

I realize that and it's great but everyone acts like it's new and it's not. These are the guys that ISU has to get and I happen to think there is a bunch of them on the current roster. This is a Reggan Northrup or KCM type of recruit.

I hope no one took what I said as a negative toward what's going on. It's just interesting to me how the opinion changes when the reality didn't.

Rhoads is gone. Get over it and STFU.

Look at what Cael did to us when he left for Penn State, and all the guys he took with him.

Cael didn't 'take' anyone. They went to him, to be with him.

Heck, wasn't it our national champ Varner, who two months after winning the NCAA's he graduated and jumped in his car and drove himself away from Ames and ISU all the way to Happy Valley to train for the Olympics under Cael?

LOL, don't act like Cael didn't try to persuade guys to go with him. It happens in all coaching changes, including Campbell now.

So with all these former Toledo recruits how will we be better than where Toledo was?

It's just really nice to see how this new staff is performing on the recruiting trail, especially in new territories. IMO I think they are doing great.

TX, I am not sure if you were serious or not but I think you can see we are not trying to take their lower end commits. Big E was one of their top 3-4 guys. They have a WR from Michigan committed that I would also like to see us flip.

Did ISU receive additional scholarships as a part of reparations for the last 3 years?

No but I'm pretty sure we have a NCAA punch-card. 10 apology letters and we get a extra scholarship. Only need 3 more. I hope is was not in CPRs wallet when he left.

Good pickup. His get off is good but he comes off a little too high but they'll fix that. Big time potential from him though.

I love what the staff is doing in identifying our needs. Just wish we would've picked up a JC LB since we struggle with that group.

Most of what you say is true. However, the previous staff had 6 years of recruiting to build to that class that was brought in last year, this staff has done this in 2.5 weeks. I think two things are at play here. First most fans are in love with the communication this staff puts out, it is cool to open twitter and see 7 different football coaches saying great things about a kid that committed to ISU. Never happened before. The second is very much related to the first. there appears to be a plan in place. Where in the past we were never allowed to see behind the curtain and so recruiting seemed random.

While we have absolutely nothing to do with the recruiting process it is nice that fans are treated as though they are apart of it, and we are allowed to celebrate with the coaches when they get someone they targeted.

They were also a lame duck staff for the 2015 class and that worked against them.

Hey, I wasn't the one talking about how much better everyone we were getting was. I was just providing a little dose of reality. I guess I didn't know that wasn't welcome here.

Is this the part where we complain about offers or what? I'm kidding. It's nice to see the fanbase have a positive attitude toward recruiting.

LOL I was just going to say we would have totally bashed this recruit under Rhoads.

Glad to see Campbell's fire though, he is getting after it.

Seen multiple analyst say this kid was the steal of the entire Toledo class and he was a huge pull for ISU. I believe he is receiving a lot of interest from schools like Indiana and Tennessee, so makes you wonder if he maybe had some grade issues or something early on in his recruitment..

I think people also need to remember that Campbell (IMO) has the better track record coming into this job than CPR did.

Matt Campbell came into this job being the MAC COY....has Paul ever had anything like that in his career? Don't view CPR as a COY anytime soon either. CPR was maybe COW (Coach Of Week - OSU game), but will never get COY award. Big difference.
Well, since you asked, Paul Rhoads was named DC of the year in the Big East in 2006 by the Sporting News. That is something somewhat similar.
