New DB Cooper documentary on History channel

Part 1 aired last night and part 2 tonight. I only got to watch a little bit, but it looked amazing. They presented a new suspect. Well, he was a suspect in the late 70's/early 80's so I guess he is not a "new" suspect, but I had never heard of him before so his name was never made public in the case. From what little I did see, the guy seems like a very good suspect.

If you are not familiar with the DB Cooper case, it is a 1971 hijacking case where a man hijacked a plane and made off with $200,000. Most FBI agents believe that the hijacker died after jumping from the plane, but no body was ever found.

According to my sources, it wasn't just $200,000 (they lowballed it to the press). It was actually $5,000,000 and was left buried under a silo in Tooele, Utah.

Decades later, while incarcerated in Illinois, Cooper (going by his real name, Charles Westmoreland) assisted a young con named Michael in escaping from prison with his brother and some other cons. Dying of a severe injury sustained just before the escape, Westmoreland confessed the true amount of the money to some of the cons, who later found the stash. In the end, it was lost in the waters of Panama after a rather treacherous journey.

Part 1 was really good and I couldn't wait for part 2. Almost immediately when I started watching part 2 my BS detector started going off. Was disappointed I wasted that much time on the show. Sorry if I spoiled anything for you, but it is better that you don't waste your time.

I'm not sure when it is airing again, but I had my brother set it up to record so I can watch it all.

cyclone1975, what do you think of the suspect? From what I saw, he seemed like a good suspect, but I want to see the entire thing first.

Are we sure this wasn't a show about hunting for valuable antiques in a barn owned by DB Cooper? Or a show about naked people trying to survive in the same place that DB Cooper landed after he jumped out of the plane?

After watching what I did, I wouldn't be surprised if the flight crew was somehow in on it. The main stewardess never talked to any reporter until they closed the case and she said she couldnt remember what he looked like because she had looked at too many pictures. I know bankers who have been robbed and they remember license plates and faces like it was yesterday. The pilot started crying when he talked about her with her there. Everybody was cut loose but those 4. Pilot was way off on the route he originally said he was. Made me think it more and more.

Good to hear. I DVR'd it after the reddit AMA from the guy who put the show together, but it sounded like there wasn't really any new information and it was going to be recycled theories/suspects.

Thanks for the link, but all I saw was a bunch of bellyaching about the amount of history on the history channel. I quit looking after a few pages.

At the end, the main investigator gets beat up as being focused on this one rabbit hole. Not seeing the first half I don't know if this is the creator or who he is. Most times I will try to see the first half of something to tie up loose ends, but they basically insult the theory at the end and I asked myself, WTH did you air this then.
