OOC was weak but they crushed Tennessee and Auburn on the road which are two wins way better than anything Houston has
Houston has hardly anything of note on their schedule. Won at Kansas and ???

Purdue got the nod over Iowa State because of better OOC wins, Alabama and Ole Miss while Iowa State just beat Marquette.
Yes, the Auburn win was very impressive. Tennessee is overrated though imo and that was in Gainesville.
The rest of their wins are beating up on SEC bubble and bottom teams, very similar to Houston in the Big 12.

I guess they are both 5-3 in Q1 games so it's really close either way. I just think the Big 12 isn't getting enough credit compared to the SEC.

I dont know about that but I am really confused one why sites still think teams like Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma should be in the tournament.

Five or 6 games under .500 in conference play doesn't cut it imo.

When the big 12 was this statistically dominant teams had to be within 1-2 games of .500 in league even if they were top 40 metrics.

Posted this in the general MBB season thread, intended to post here.

Hadn't gotten much chance to refer to the in-season bracket reveal.

ISU about where I expected.

Side note for fun, here's how the committee ranking compares to most recent AP ranking (some results today will shift the s-curve):

1
1 Auburn … 1
2 Alabama …2
3 Duke …3
4 Florida …4
2
5 Tennessee …5
6 Texas A&M …8
7 Purdue …7
8 Houston …6
3
9 Iowa State …10
10 Kentucky …15
11 Wisconsin …16
12 Arizona …13
4
13 Texas Tech …12
14 Michigan …20
15 Kansas …17
16 St. John’s …9

Highest ranked not in top 16:
Michigan State … 11
Memphis…14
Marquette…18
Missouri… 21
Mississippi State…22

Kentucky at 10 was the most ridiculous of all the rankings. No team with that many losses to unranked teams deserves to be top 15 let alone top 10. Glad they lost to another unranked team tonight.

This would be the most Iowa State thing ever
Unfortunately this will happen more times than not to Iowa State. Look at the typical sweet 16 sites, the only ones close to us are KC and Minneapolis. Omaha hosted once but I believe they are a 1st/2nd round site moving forward.

Gotta think yesterday moves Purdue off the 2 line though. With as bad as the B1G is this year, you can’t lose a resume building win at home, those opportunities are pretty limited.

They absolutely need to win @MSU this week. They have a couple of good wins, including one over Alabama. But they haven't done a lot since then to deserve a 2 seed IMO.

I don’t really have an issue with the remaining 2 seeds. But none of them have secured the spot IMO. All of them need to keep winning to stay there. I don’t see all 5 of those SEC teams staying there. Even losses against those other SEC top teams are still losses.
