NBA: NBA Off-season Thread

@WojYahooNBA: Yahoo Source: Clippers, DeAndre Jordan meeting was short. It was clear he was returning to them. Then they started to play cards.

Seriously, this is too funny

@Chris_Broussard: Sources: Cuban is beside himself. Driving around downtown Dallas begging (thru texts) Jordan's family for address to DeAndre's home

This is ******* hilarious

I thought the Clippers were meeting at Jordan's home in Houston, so driving around Dallas isn't gonna help.

Broussard corrected himself. Cuban was driving around downtown Houston looking for Jordan.

what a strange situation. I can't remember anything like it in the NBA before.

Boozer in 2004? But that was slightly different. Boozer made Cleveland believe he would sign with them if they let him become an unrestricted free agent, and then he jumped to Utah.

Edit: Hedo Turkoglu in 2009 had a verbal agreement with Portland, but backed out and signed with Toronto.

Boozer destroyed the Cavs. That was so low. All did DeAndre did was verbally agree. Not much lost.

Someone needs to do a photo-shopped Doc Rivers or Balmer on the picture of john Cusack from say Anything.

Wow. What now for the Mavs? They have an aging star and two good but overpaid supporting cast guys in Chandler Parsons and Wes Matthews, and that's assuming that Matthews can come all the way back from his Achilles injury. Their first rounder they traded to Boston for Rondo last season is top seven protected. Is it tank time in Dallas? And if it is, then does that mean that Cuban does the unthinkable and trades Dirk?

what was the situation where the college coach went and hid the HS kid on signing day so that no other coaches could find him. For some reason I think it had something to do with ISU but I could totally mis-remember.

There are a lot of stores like that floating around. Different sport, but back in the NFL/AFL rivalry days scouts and coaches would routinely hide players in hotels and stay with them to make sure a team from the rival league couldn't come in and poach. I remember reading stories about guys sneaking out of bathroom windows and down fire escapes to a car waiting in the parking lot to sign with the team that came up with a better offer.

Deron Williams to Dallas? Even if he can negotiate a buyout and find his old form (pretty big ifs), I can't see it being enough to vault the Mavs into serious contention.

At some point Cuban is going to have to take his medicine and do what's best for the long term prospects of the franchise. These annual quick fixes to keep them in contention for the 6-8 seed is wasting the final years of Nowitzki's career. Can you imagine adding him to a fringe contender as a crunch time scorer? It wouldn't happen, but he'd be a perfect addition to an offensively challenged playoff contender like the Grizzlies.

Julius Randle 5/17 from the floor after two summer league games, really living up to the Webber/Malone comparisons.
