He's a decent backup NBA center. He had a solid year last season, albeit for the Knicks.
Wow, got him for almost nothing. That's a big move for Houston, will be interesting to see how him and Harden play together. And with Beverly and Brewer still on the team, that's some nice backcourt depth.
Not too surprising considering he just picked up his second DUI inside of a year, Mudiay by all accounts was great in summer league, and the Nuggets seem to have finally figured out that they should be firmly in re-building mode.
Selling low on their best asset, for which they turned down significantly better offers just a few months ago, doesn't seem like the best move for Denver. But maybe they think that Lawson has some real problems and this may not be the low point for his value or they just want nothing to do with Mudiay hanging around him.
I think that's pretty much it. Clearly, they should have dumped him mid-season when they had real offers for him, but I think they over-valued him after what they got for Mozgov. Now though, I think they'd rather take the loss and free up room for a real professional vet PG to come in and mentor Mudiay, instead of letting him hang around an apparently troubled guy like Lawson.
It was as good an offer as they were going to get after the second DUI. Yeah, the best offers came months ago but it's time to get what they can and move on with Mudiay. A protected first rounder plus spare parts is probably about the best they were going to get.
Low risk move for the Rockets. It gives them some additional scoring punch to take a little of the load off Harden and a nice little insurance policy if Beverley is slow to come back from his injury.

Or they might play four on five. Vogel can do his best Hackman impression and tell Joey Crawford, "My team is on the floor" while Paul George sits on the bench and pouts.

Bad timing on the trade for Babb as he didn't get to play in the summer league because of it. Hopefully he still gets a training camp invite somewhere.
I would assume that Golden State is just going to cut Wallace and Babb immediately. Couldn't Boston just re-sign him in a similar D-league/occasional bench spot role?
Boston has a full roster too. He was going to get cut if he hadn't been traded. I'm sure they would take back on their D-League team but it would be nice if he could compete for a roster spot somewhere else.
