NBA: NBA Off-season Thread

Who was the guy the other day that was talking about how NO was going to be garbage because no way AD was resigning with them?

People always say so and so (AD, Wiggins, Towns) will leave their team as soon as they can, yet literally every high pick that gets offered a max rookie extension agrees to it. And if they leave after seven years because the organization couldn't put a good roster around them, well that team had their chance and didn't take advantage of it.

Danny Green back to the Spurs for 4/$45M, that's a great deal for the Spurs, they get another guy to take less money to stay there.

Yeah, that's a bargain for the Spurs. Green has developed into an excellent wing defender and shooter, plus he fits in their culture really well. If the Spurs convince Aldridge to sign then that puts them right up there with the Warriors as favorites in the West next season.

Yep, I would sign up to watch that WCF's right now. Could Golden St stay small against the Alrdridge/Duncan combo?

Whats up guys?

I'll wait for the contract details to come out but if there's no early opt out that's a good deal for the Cavs. I figured he'd stay because it made the most sense but he's leaving a boatload of money on the table if that's a true 5 year deal.

$110MM, I am guessing he will survive. Probably figures if he wins a few titles with that squad the endorsement dollars will offset making more on a losing team.

that's not what I meant. He could have gotten more with the Cavs a year from now and even more than that two years from now. That's why LeBron isn't signing any 5 year contracts.

If they get LA then I don't see golden state beating them and I love that GS team.

With the way the cap is jumping up, I don't think a $5M a year deal for him is crazy at all. He's a big wing who can shoot, 38% from 3 last year. He's not a great defender but OKC is all in on just outscoring people next year.

Yeah, I know. Relative to the NBA landscape it's a reasonable deal. It just makes me laugh because I remember watching him at Duke, and not once did I ever think that pale bag of bones would one day secure a 25 million dollar contract. It's like telling someone now that in five years Aaron White is going to haul in a 20-30 million dollar deal. How would you react?

No, I know what you mean, I have to adjust my thinking on some of these numbers too. Khris Middleton $18M per, Al-Farouq Aminu $7.5M per, Alexis Ajinca $5M per. Teams are throwing crazy amounts of money around and it's going to be even worse next year.

And Ryan Kelly is the Duke guy for me that I can't believe is still even in the league, although he's on the Lakers so I don't know if that counts at this point.
