agreed. I also think it's kind of an awakening for both LA and NY that they have to offer more than just the big media market spotlight that their cities offer. Kevin Durant can become a megastar playing in basically the middle of nowhere. San Antonio is a tiny market, but serves as the model organization for sustained success. You've got Phil Jackson talking about how he doesn't believe in analytics, trying to jam players into the hallowed triangle offense, and Bryon Scott espousing similar theories that run counter to the way the league is going. The rest of the league is just passing them by.

and the sixers own the Lakers first round pick, don't they? It was top 5 protected this year. Does that go up, or is it top 5 again?
Poor ownership is killing them, too. James Dolan's misadventures are well documented, and I think there's a problem in LA where Jeannie and Jim Buss are both trying to run the organization. It's stuff like their pitch meeting with Aldridge - if Jeannie is supposed to be in charge of the business ops and Jim is supposed to be in charge of the roster and player personnel, then why was she in the meeting and he wasn't? And where does Mitch Kupchak fit in all of that? It's a little unclear who's in charge in LA.

hmm, a healthy Kobe probably means the Lakers won't be getting a top 3 pick. Still might be a lottery pick, but probably not top 3. They'd better hope that Randle and Russell are the real deal.
A "healthy" Kobe trying to get up 30 shots a game, and playing his typical defense of the last few years, is probably the Lakers best chance for keeping that pick. I would be shocked if the Lakers make the playoffs this year. A Russell-Kobe backcourt is going to be horrific defensively.

Set aside the remorseless gunning and "defense". Even then, what are the chances that he makes it through a full season? All those playoff games have caught up with him. I'll be surprised if he makes it past All Star weekend. But it's cool, because Julius Randle is about to wreck the league.

Monta Ellis to Indy; 44 mil over 4 years with a player option after the third. He'll be 32 by then and his game will have started to decline so I'm guessing he'll opt in.
I guess I like it. It gives the Pacers some much needed scoring although I think Rodney Stuckey did a pretty credible Ellis impersonation off the bench last season and he could have been re-signed for about half of what Ellis got. A lot depends on whether or not they're able to move Hibbert and clear some cap space to chase what few good free agents are still out there. If they can't, then a Hill/George/Ellis/PF to be named/Hibbert starting lineup is playing for a six or seven seed in the East.

LA meeting with the lakers again (but but what about the lakers blew it). Two rumors in place. One: LA doesn't want to play the 5 and DJ is sitting in the office saying im in if youre in for 1 year deals. Two: Robin Lopez (a guy LA loves) is sitting in the office saying the same thing.

I suppose that if there's a second meeting then they're still a potential landing spot for Aldridge, but good grief. How embarrassing is that? Sorry we ****ed up the first one so badly, Lamarcus.
