My conference tidbit

Yeah, I just counted 23 guys on the roster from Texas. I think that pretty much goes away if we're in the Big East. Maybe we can offset that with more of a focus on Florida, maybe not.

Iowa State had players from Texas long before it was in the Big 12.

This is myth.

Dr Gene Lloyd (the lloyd who's name is on the side of the VET MED addition) just told me that He, JP, GG, Harkin, Grassley and 3 or 4 US House members were all in a suite up in the pressbox Saturday and they met again yesterday. I ask Dr. L if the Big XII would survive and all he would say was "change is good" and "we will be more than just alright." He's 87 and sharp as a tack and is NUTS about ISU. Quietly given millions upon millions. While telling me this, his smile was one of great satisfaction. You can take this or leave it but it made me feel a whole lot better.

He also said that looking at the new scoreboard is difficult from up in the upper pressbox, have to bend over to see it.

Has he ever made a post that didn't reference his wealth and status? I don't have an axe to grind. I just hate pompous rich windbags. Come from being "poor" I guess.

--- OUT ---

Looks like the one in this very thread doesn't reference any of that. He doesn't saying about his status. He validated his source which, IMO, is perfectly fine. If he doesn't give a source then you would come on here and ask for one. The bolded is kind of a contradiction considering you probably feel the exact same way about anyone with any sort of wealth.

We will always recruit Texas.

He prefers pauper windbags who feel the need to tell us they are peons with each post.

My bold prediction...Missouri, KSU, KU, and ISU join the Big 10 to form the first 16 team football conference, Texas goes independent, and the remainder of the Big 12 south schools either join the SEC or Pac 12.

Not sure if K State makes the cut, they are already splitting up a 12 piece pie into too many pieces. Missouri is the one of those that brings in TV sets via population(5.8 mil?, even though it's split btw MU, Ill, KU and others), and KU has the BBall relevance. That locks up a lot of people in MO, KS, NE, IA watching football or basketball for those two teams. Iowa State has competitive facilities and good academics, not to mention good overall AD strength as mentioned before, this helps our cause but "footprint" does not. Combine that with the fact that MU, KU and ISU are all AAU schools. If ISU makes it in under some sort of deal with the Iowa legislature or something I think the Big Ten goes east/south with pick #16.

Poor academics, lack of state school loyalty and lack of overall AD strength screw KSU. Plus Bill Snyder is freaking 100 and can't coach forever and they know they can't win without him. Unless they pull some Weekend at Bernie's stuff.

rebecacy --- have you ever made a post that didn't include letting all of us peons know that you are some kind of big **** ? I don't remember any.

If you are big ****, why did Dr. Lloyd have to be cryptic with you? I would think one big **** could be candid with another big ****. Maybe he is bigger **** than you, but that seems hard to believe, since you would certainly like us to believe you are not only big ****, but king **** if not emperor ****. How is it that emperor **** is not in the inner circle? Could it be you are only prince ****?

Chill out man. No one would jump down your throat if you had said the same thing.

Martini lunch?

Well of course we will, but with the same success rate?

Probably not, but that just means we'll start recruiting more states and be much more focused on picking up the best here at home. We'll start pushing OH/PA/NY. Our team will have to become even MORE focused on developing talent rather than recruiting. We may end up with 2*/3* being the way of life rather than where I think Rhoads can take us in the Big XII, which would be with mostly 3* talent and higher across the board.

Thanks for the knowledge. I just hope that Dr. Lloyd's definition of "change" and "good" are similar to what most of ours would be. And that he's on point.

Except being then most rural school in the big East would KILL football recruiting.

Well, Iowa is the most rural school in the B1G by a long shot and they seem to do okay.

Recruiting, while an important piece of the puzzle, is just one piece. It's more important what you do with the recruits you can get. You have to prove you can win with what you have before you move up the recruiting food chain.

87 years old and in the pressbox?

My guess is he was also running the sound system.
