Murray State High Level Offers for 16 &17

I would take Kobe Eubanks, 6'5", 4* guard who will be a freshman this year, assuming he's willing/able to get out of his commitment to Murray State. :)

Please explain what I said that was not positive. It is difficult to pull players from the South to Iowa if they have comparable offers in the South. That is a cold hard fact.

The state of KY is know a heck of a lot more for BBall than the state of Iowa.

Im just saying it is a whole different ballgame recruiting to ISU whether any of you want to admit it or not.

What makes you say that recruiting to ISU may be more difficult than to Murray State?

Recruits don't like playing in a Power Conference, on the biggest stage, against the best teams. Better facilities hamper player development. The increased television exposure is usually a negative to an egotistical 18yr old boy as well.

:jimlad:

Kobe is a 2014 kid who didn't meet requirements to get into Baylor and went to prep school and reclassified to 15. He has an offer from Murray St. but is not a commit. He has officials in last couple months to Alabama, Kansas, Oregon, & Texas

Recruiting to ISU vs. North Carolina yes. vs. Kentucky YES, Murray State come on you don't really believe that do you?

I said comparable offer. So will a Southern kid go to Ole Miss before coming to ISU. You betcha. Would a Southern kid go to Murray State over UNI. You betcha.

That is the point I was making. If his geographic focus is in the South then when he was at Murray State it very well may have been easier to get their targets.

In both of your comparisons you compared teams in similar situations. You compared two mid-majors to each other and two P5 schools to each other. Murray State is nowhere close to being a P5 school like ISU. Will a kid from the south who is a 4 or 5 star pick Iowa State over Murray State? I won't even answer the question since it's so obvious. Get a grip, dude. Terrible post.

Not what he is saying. Stating that Murray State would be able to get their 2* target against UNI easier than ISU can get their 4* target against Ole Miss.

However, I don't necessarily agree.
We are approaching a new level for ISU. Not too many Southern schools that will be on par with us if Prohm is able to continue what Fred started.

We got Brackins here from California when the program was in the tank, we can get these guys and more likely being ranked for three entire seasons.

And another thing to consider, those guys Murray State and UNI are battling for aren't necessarily looking at pro ball after college. They undoubtedly dream about and want to make it to that level but exposure/level of competition/etc likely aren't as high on the list as the guys ISU should be going after. Going to ISU will get you more exposure than an Ole Miss, or Alabama, etc.

Brackins also went to prep school at the Brewster Academy, where TJ has a lot of connections

This could be a very big thing. We have connections in the Midwest so now adding the Southeast is a pretty big deal as well. If Prohm keeps winning then we have two big regions that could give us lots of talented players.

I would be absolutely shocked if any rated player from the southeast ever comes to isu.

While true, California isn't the South. The South takes care of its own. It's a different situation entirely.

Last time we had a coach with southern connections, we did alright down there (Willoughby, Louisiana and Cato, Georgia). I'm sure there are more. Transfers, yes, but very, very good players from the South.

him getting a transfer that was a former player or one from the same conference wouldn't shock me. I was referencing those high school prospects people posted about at the start of the thread.
