Mow Height

Three clicks from the top if the grass looks really good. Two clicks from the top if it’s getting burned in the heat.
I can’t do three clicks from the top or one click from the top because the metal teeth one on wheel are all bent to hell. Two clicks is all the old girl has left.

I am 2 clicks from the top Spring to June and October to the end. 1 click from the top between June and August (dry season).

The longer I let the lawn grow. The less weeds I have.

You guys must have fancy mowers. I have no idea what height it is but my four tires are set two metal clicks from highest setting.

I'm the same way - except as I said I keep it on the highest setting or the next to highest setting or I start scalping my yard.

I have no idea how high I cut mine. Mower is set the second highest setting. Neighbor cuts so low he has spots were the blade is into the dirt. His yard almost looks greyish when he is done.

As President of our townhouse association I could give you the names of a few people that appear to be experts on this. As well as many other things like snow removal, gutters....

I see most men here mow just above the average penis height of the forum, obviously for safety reasons which I applaud.

Second from the top till it gets to once a week mowing then all the way up. Short once at last frost right before fall weed control. Then back up. Then short right when the lawn firms up in the spring.

I always set mine well below the shoulder height of a tiger for summer. Don't want to provide any cover for them stalking me.

I tend to worry more about he Cougars!

LOL. Our foster terrier loves ****ing in the tallest grass he can find.
I have three varieties of Shih Tzu's, and it depends on the day. If a couple of them won't go, the third won't either. I don't think they like feeling the grass across their bellies. Once they get out there and get to sniffing, they're fine, but if they're hesitating, I have to herd them off my patio.

I cut mine tight. Probably 1.5 inches to 2 at most. I have no issues with weeds and I hate long grass. Its my golf course background. 3 inches is crazy in my opinion.

That's what i do. If I don't see dirt it isn't short enough.

My neighbor finally mowed their dirt piles (guess you can call it a lawn if grass isn’t required) and knocked down his foot tall weeds. It was my moms house in the past and I was working to get it straightened out from the previous owner. New owners have no money and mowing takes away from their retirement which consists of drinking and smoking in their garage while they now have 4 generations living in the house. They made a mess when they believed the CYA statement that the foundation could use more dirt and then they put in 3-4 egress windows also. That basement never took on water.

I have been mowing my lawn at 2 1/2" so far this year. I know when it gets hotter I should change to longer (like 3") Should I be cutting mine higher yet, or does it matter at this point?
3-4" through the summer is the usual recommendation for fescue lawns in the Midwest.
