More Players Out the Door

Or it could be that people in the programs are running towards lifeboats as the ship starts to capsize.

Let me know when one of those guys who leaves goes on to do something. Mutcherson has the potential but he isn't leaving because of playing time.

The whole program, even internally, is a mess from everything I have heard. So players leaving should be not be any surprise. Sounds like Julian Good-Jones is taking an official to Louisville per their rivals site, so should continue to be fun.

It's funny you don't post when good things happen in terms of recruiting.

You forget that he is spokesperson for the lot he tailgates in and the section he sits in. They voted him in so if they don't have anything to say during positive times then you need to take it up with all of those fans.

We're down over the last 2 years 10-15 players that need to be filled with new players that need to learn all the new schemes and develop physically and mentally over the coming years to just get back to being crappy. Losing a kid who isn't going to play and replacing him with a kid that isn't going to play for 2-3 years is not an overall winning strategy.

Get rid of the bad kids. But recruit better kids to start out. We will not strike gold in 1 or 2 players. We need as many of the 85 scholly kids in the program, learning the schemes, and contributing on and off the field as we can over the entire course of their careers.

Wondering if we'll see APR hits in the coming years if the attrition continues. Our last reporting period was pretty dismal.

No kidding. You would think the most negative posters would realize they can't have it both ways. Guys that aren't seeing the field for a 2-3 win team aren't also leaving for a better opportunity at another P5 program. Considering they've all used their redshirts, they will all most likely drop down a level or just quit football altogether. But I get that it's easier to pile on than be logical.

Careful. If you hear things that are not considered good news then people will call BS. If you hear things that are positive they'll eat it up. It's the nature of the beast.

When you consider how many players have departed the program in the past 1-2 years for various reasons it is pretty obvious that there is a number of problems. Anyone who doesn't see that simply doesn't want to believe it. It's as simple as that.

This happens at every school. Anyone who doesn't see that simply doesn't want to believe it. It's as simple as that.

Is a TE necessary? Yeah it's nice when you have a matchup nightmare like Bibbs, but personally I don't see a need for a TE and would rather have 4 WR's out there.

Spoken like a linebacker! Have issues with TEs, huh? [jimlad]

Coe- Team Rules
Irving- Team Rules/Legal
Mutcherson- Team rules
Harris- Legal
Leslie- Transfer
Williams- Transfer
Kron- Left football?
Rogers- Transfer
Lawry- Transfer

That's quickly off the top of my head. Some of them left no choice. While Coe didn't get in trouble, he still left the staff no choice because he wouldn't get it together. Rogers is the only one who has gone on and seems to be trending in a solid direction. Mutcherson is the only starter or maybe even the only guy who would see the field next year. Harris could have easily gotten lost in the shuffle if Daley or Ecby pass him which was very plausible. If Lawry could find time in the slot last year and we pulled Wesleys RS, he wasn't going to see the field. Williams wasn't seeing the field. I don't think Leslie was seeing the field.

IMO, most of the guys we have lost since Rhoads came weren't a big deal. Now, the last two years we have lost Morgan, Rogers, Coe, Irving and Mutcherson. Those were or are all big losses but one had to do with a coach who isn't here anymore, three left little choice and one I don't know (Morgan). Coe, for instance is a guy you take a chance on and sometimes it doesn't work. Irving didn't have a red flag until he got here and I don't know that Mutcherson did either. I don't know what Mutcherson did. Maybe he didn't need to be kicked off but judging by what people have said, Mutcherson and Harris were on thin ice anyway. It sucks but it is what it is and I don't think it's all that abnormal.

Coming from the other direction, if you don't think guys will contribute or will cause a divide, why not open the scholarship up? Also, as to the last two years, maybe running a looser ship was part of the issue and this is cleaning it up. I mean Harris and Mutcherson weren't some big secret.

As for APR, yeah, that won't be good.

I don't see where this development is a sign of failure. Some people just don't work out for one reason or another. It looks like people that can't control themselves managed to earn their exit, and guys that weren't going to play went another direction (unless there's more to it than has come out so far).

Not a great development, but this one isn't one that's real surprising at any program.

No disrespect you young Mr Medders....

But if he thinks that the past few seasons have equated to "fine" - I think I see a good chunk of the problem.

We have lots of fans who feel the same way

This development will only mean more excuses for CPR
