Montgomery moving on

Unfortunately it seems most NFL teams have their back at this moment for next year. I don't think there's a place that would be looking to spend a lot of money on a bruising back like Montgomery.

I think he'd do well at Miami as a change of pace to Mosert. With the speed that team has he wouldn't see many 8 man boxes like he did in Chicago.

He was a Nagy pick and a very specific type of workhorse back. Not surprising that they are parting ways. Hopefully he finds the right fit elsewhere.

Someone will take on DM as their main RB. He's too versatile not to get a shot somewhere as the feature back or at least some kind of time share where he will get more of the snaps. Teams with uncertain RB situations where at worst he would be in a time share that I can think of are possibly Buffalo, Denver (at least for now with Javonte Williams out for probably a decent chunk of next season) maybe Kansas City? They have Pacheco and CEH still but he sure would get some work out of the backfield in the passing game, Arizona, Carolina (lot of opportunity here after they traded CMC) Rams, then you have some teams like Seattle, Tampa Bay, and Washington where the health and roles of their RB room are in flux. Probably missing some others too I'm sure.

I'm sure he will get a reasonably good deal somewhere, and hopefully as a featured back (or shared) with a contender.

If I was him and his agent I’d be looking for a place with a need for a 10 touch/25 play per game 1b back. Extending his career by a year or two is probably more valuable than making a couple million more next year from someone that would pay him to be a feature back.

After the Bears chose not to extend DM before the season, I wanted him out of Chicago to be honest. If he was as important as they said at the time, then you extend prior to the season.

And the fact that they couldn’t trade him doesn’t bode well for the next contract. He’ll land somewhere but this year wasn’t exactly the showcase contract year he hoped for.

As a Bears fan, I wish they had a line for him but I’ll cheer him on anywhere he goes.

Fourcette at TB looks done to me. Hesitant and half step slow compared to his earlier years. Might be a place for DM to land.

Let's not forget...David was a KEY component to our turn-around.
As much heart n soul, as any Cyclone I've ever had the honor of watching, no matter the sport.
I talked to him for probably 20 minutes if not more prior to the Kempt year at a tailgate tour stop. Was a super guy even back then.
