I'd much rather see the Orioles in Baltimore as opposed to going to Texas to see the Rangers. If the Yankees can get out of the ALDS I'd like to see Detroit get beat out as well.

At least someone does. It's not a crazy call. It is a judgement call and under his (and my) judgement the SS was easily underneath that baseball.
The call wasn't as bad as I first thought but it's still not a call you make in that situation. That wasn't an ordinary play when you factor in everything like the crowd noise, the type of game it was, the amount of grass the SS had to cover to get there. It just wasn't an ordinary play. It wasn't the reason why the Braves lost but that was a big play.
When you factor in the situation???? That makes ZERO sense. You never factor in the situation. You make the call as it deems fit. He thought the SS was under it. He was. Nothing else matters. Judgement call.
The rule states that you make "infield fly" call immediately. Showing that another umpire blew the call earlier in the season doesn't set a precedent. It was a bad call both times.
Immediately after recognizing that its an infield fly. You aren't right. Stop acting like you are. It's just butt hurt.

The analysts on both ESPN and MLB Network said they can see why the call was made. That's a far cry from saying that it was the correct call. The sole purpose of calling the infield fly is to prevent the defense from taking advantage of the play by ringing up a double play on a play that would register only one out if played straight. There was no way the Cardinals' defense was going to ring up a double play there because of the depth of the fly ball and because it landed behind the infielder.
And I'm not butt-hurt over the call - that game was inconsequential to me.
I agree with the previous poster that there was no way that St. Louis would have turned a double play by intentionally dropping the ball. Therefore I don't see where it should have been called.
Since the foul line umpires are used only in post season, I'm guessing that this is the first (and probably last) time in baseball history that a foul line umpire callled an infield fly.
