Mega Mart coming to Des Moines area

Huxley is another small town with two Casey's that are less than a mile from each other. When they have an older store in a location that is doing well they often seem to build a new one close by.
I just saw where Good n Quick in Nevada has closed and will become a Casey's. They had great chicken!!

We passed a buc-ees on the way back from Orlando last winter and the traffic was backed up all the way down the off-ramp from the highway. It would have taken an hour to get gas.
The hour wait would be perfect for EV owners...;)

This is almost always the case with two Casey's close to each other (which seems to happen a lot), one is older/not as nice and the other is newer. Seems to be one of their business models, if they have an older store that is busy they build a new one about as close to it as they can acquire land and keep the old one going too.
Most of the places I have seen two Casey's really close one wasn't a Casey's to start and sold to Casey's. Sometimes that purchased one just gets a refresh to make it more Casey's and sometimes that purchased one gets bulldozed and made as a new Casey's.

As much as people complain, the old ones make money, and if it is making money without being new, why make it new.

Not sure why all the hating on Buc-ees, they pay a very good wage, unlike Casey's and others, many starting over $20 an hour plus benefits. As others have stated the restrooms are large to handle a lot of people and cleaner than the one in your house. They have a full time attendant in each that does nothing but clean it all day long. Very good brisket sandwiches, and baked goods. Last one we were at in Georgia I counted over 200 stalls to gas up your vehicle. They also do not allow semi's on their property, even the gas tanks are off site and they refill them there and it's pumped down to the station underground. They can be a little overwhelming the first time you stop, but it's well worth it. Just to see the entire operation if for nothing else.

I just honestly don’t get it. It’s a gas station and when I’ve gone the waits have been terrible. I’ve only been there once and I’ll never go back.

On the other hand she doesn’t say anything when I buy machinery or cattle, she’s a keeper. I was low on gas anyway.
Did you mean 25 miles? Going 250 miles out of the way when you were low on gas anyway doesn’t seem to make sense…

It was 250, the out of gas comment was a joke. I’ve been happily married for 46 years, she reallly wanted to go to Buc-ees for the first time. After 46 years, not much left to give for gifts so you improvise. We were on our way to NE Arkansas so I made a detour to Springfield Mo.

And choices like this are why you’ve made it 46 years. Congratulations.

There's a Buc-ees in Springfield? Darn, I was just there a couple of weeks ago

In the hotel lobby there's a guy with a Buc-ees T-shirt and his kid has a Buc-ees hoodie

For anyone that thinks that's fun or cool, think about this...

That is the same as wearing a WalMart, HyVee or Casey's shirt.

And if you want to say, but it's a destination, it's no different than wearing an I80 Truck Stop shirt.

It seems rather cultish.

Walking in and prepaying isn’t a big deal when I’m saving $10.00 dollars in diesel. And all they do is scan a little card and hand it to you. There was no sign up.
Get the Mudflap app on your phone and save a lot more and you can pay at the pump. Paid $3.08 this week when posted price was $3.50 / gallon.
