MBB Open Scholarship

After next season you lose Shayok and Babb, plus there is the slight chance Wigginton leaves early. Solomon, Lard, and Jacobson all return. The spots needs to go to a shooter hands down.

Unless we can get an immediately eligible shooter, it's Tyler Harris or a sit out transfer.

I wouldn't say a slight chance to be honest. I think after next year it's 50/50 Wigginton jumps.

The great thing is we can sit back as other coaches get fired and players decommit and we can try to swoop in and build on our already strong 2018 class.

I agree with Randy Pete that a grad transfer does not make sense. Our rotation for next year is set if not crowded right now. Point of focus needs to be 2019/2020 season and beyond.

I'd personally love to see a sit one, play two type of combo guard stud transfer.

Rotation in 2019/2020 of:

Wigginton
Stud transfer
THT
Lard
Young

Jacobson, Griffin, Conditt, Lewis, Haliburton, Incoming frosh class.

Too young to remember Haluska?

I remember the end of Floyd and the good years of Eustachy.

My memory becomes a black hole between the "H" game and when Wayne Morgan said something about the heart of a great white shark. A big one.

Then I remember everything. Every terrible Wookie offensive set.

I think Wigginton will improve as a PG. I don't think he needs to massively improve. He just needs to show improvement. He is a late first early second guy and I don't think that improves a ton unless he just goes crazy next year. And I don't think it would improve by him coming back for a Junior year. It is also a weak draft for PGs next year which could help move up in the draft. It will all depend on what he ultimately wants to do.

I agree that he doesn't need to improve as much as some think, primarily because I believe at least some of the problem was related to not having enough other threats on the floor, and some of the problem was not having everyone executing the offense. Plays break down when that happens, and then you just have to improvise. He had to do that way too much this year.

However, in my opinion, he'll split time initiating the offense with Babb, Talley and THT next year, and unless he's dynamic in that role, he will probably be back for his junior year, where he'll be the man at that spot.

Could be a factor in the Tyler Harris sweepstakes.

"He is Memphis' most famous alum and currently the coach at East High in Memphis — where he has assembled an incredible roster favored to win a state championship this weekend."

Is recruiting high school players legal in Tennessee?

Any ideas what a potential addition of Harris would do for the recruiting class rankings?
