MBB Open Scholarship

First I while I am guessing he will be a Tiger with new coach Hardaway, Tyler Harris is a take. Outside of that, if you look at our class balance next year we will have:
4 Freshman
3 Sophomores
2 Juniors (both bigs)
3 Seniors

You also have a possibility that you lose Wiggs next year to NBA. I think best option is a transfer that comes in with a redshirt year and would be a JR or SR in fall 19. Without that you have at most 5 upperclassmen by then and possibly 4 if Wiggs goes. A transfer with a redshirt ...like a 3 point specialist SG would be awesome for the future.

Other route is a JUCO who comes in as a jr and joins the Jacobson, Young class. In either case you probably are talking guard not big.

"He is Memphis' most famous alum and currently the coach at East High in Memphis — where he has assembled an incredible roster favored to win a state championship this weekend."

Is recruiting high school players legal in Tennessee?
It is for Dowling Catholic and WDM Valley...

We need a PG bad, so Tyler Harris would be an awesome addition in my eyes. We have Babb as our only true PG next season with Wigginton showing he's not real comfortable there.

Tyler would be a great backup PG to have this year, and then as a starter the following year.

I would agree with the JC option as it would help even out classes, but are there really
any stud JC SG out there? I don't see any of DJ or Juiston's caliber (even though he was a PF).

There are some, I don't know that we have any connections, but the number one and two ranked JUCO's are uncommitted and both are SG. #1 is a Baylor signee out of HS, Wendell Mitchell who shot 3's at a 36% plus clip on 148 shots. Number 2 was Jordan Brangers who I believe was a Colorado State commit out of HS. He shot an amazing 46% on 320 shots. There are more including a SG for Juiston's old Juco Hutchinson. He didn't shoot as well from three (31%). There is also a kid from Indian Hills, some of you may know more about him, he isn't as highly ranked, 23rd. He shot well 39% from outside on 255 shots.

Not saying any of these are targets, just that there are options out there from a SG perspective. There are also some uncommitted PG and CG that rank highly.

Need to find a shooting guard. I think some of the guys that are playing next year are decent shooters, but really need to have at least one outside threat to extend the defense and create driving lanes for Wigginton and others.

Better late than never and hopefully with some interest.

Not that I think it is happening or anything here, but Cook would thrive in a more open system with more competent guards/wings around him.

He strikes me as that Nader, Burton, and THT archetype that Prohm seems to love.

I admit he pairs well with Bohannon, though. I know we like to make fun of him and he sucks at defense, but dang the kid can shoot. Anybody could use that.

I'm not seeing it. He's more like an Edward Edozie than he is an Abdul/Deonte type.

Not sure why anyone is worried about class balance with this freshman class. The odds of all 5 graduating together are slim to none. You take the most talented player you can get. If that's Harris, you take him. If that's a sit-out transfer, you do that.

Going Fab Five with...

Harris
Haliburton
Horton-Tucker
Griffin
Conditt

...would be fun, though. :)

Wigginton and Lard can get used to the bench!

Harris is a stud but I don't love bringing in 5 freshman, seems impossible all 5 would end their careers here. That said, he's the best player that we know we are currently recruiting.

I will say that if Harris were to end up here, it would be an amazing recruiting job keeping him interested when a lot of other suitors have come calling.
