Matt Thomas vs. Grand Valley State

With Naz going 6-7 from 3 the other night I think a people expect Matt to do the same. They are different players and if you expect anyone to shoot 6-7 from 3 every night you are a crazy person. That being said what if Naz and matt went 6-7 every night? It could happen right? National Championship Locked? :jimlad:

Niang had a pretty crappy night.
"Think how good you have to be when 11 pts 9 boards and 7 assists with no TOs is a crappy night"

I remember seeing an ISU football game as a student back in the late 60's where the opponent was OSU with one of the nation's top backs and eventual Heisman winnerSteve Owens. I watched the game a bit disappointed because he wasn't breaking every carry for 50 yds or a touchdown. When I saw the box score, he had a truly impressive total. I want to say 250 yds, but he does hold the Memorial Stadium rushing attempts record of 52 against ISU, so 250 isn't ******* crazy.

Niang's line the other night was consistent with his career averages that has put him on most preseason all-whatever lists.

I was at the game I can pretty much vouch that Niang was more interested in not getting hurt than he was in trying to win any stat stuffing comps.

Really only Naz and Hallice looked like they were going over 75% and that's most likely because they are working back from injury.

I like having him and Halice off the bench. Two younger hungry guards to come in and give us positive minutes. Nader looked like a pro out there also.

I've been looking forward to see what Hallice can do for awhile now. Love his shot.

It seemed to me Nader took a page out of Georges book of last season as he is much slimmer and trimmer like Georges was at the beginning of last season.

As for Matt Thomas. I often wondered why Fred didn't have Matt play some of his minutes at the point as Matt had a very impressive high school career as his team's point guard.

It looks like Prohm has quit trying to turn him into a scorer, and focused on letting him be that scrappy token white guy that other teams hate. Seems to suit his game well, and add a dimension to the squad that was previously missing.

That's an odd statement to make after one exhibition game ( where he took 9 shots, and 5 free throws)... I agree he can be very active, but to say Prohm doesn't want him to be a scorer based on the first game is pretty silly...

Just to nit pick a little but Owens played for OU not OSU.

Maybe change "scorer" to "sharpshooter" and you have it?

Seriously. Eff that guy.

Other acceptable ways to describe the token white guy on your basketball team/at wide receiver (think the Julian Edelman or Wes Welker archetype):

scrappy

gym rat

high-character

high motor

gritty

high basketball IQ

I'd love Thomas to be that sort of guy the next two years. :)
