Interesting interview with Iron Fist stunt coordinator talking about the disaster that was that show. While it was widely known at the time that Finn Jones came into S1 with pretty much zero fight training, it's interesting to get it confirmed that it really was because he refused to train. Talk about one of the biggest miscasts of all time. Not only was he a terrible actor, but the kid signs up for a kung-fu show and refuses to do the training needed to make it look good. I consider that a major fail on both sides. Such a waste. I also thought it was the perfect chance to cast an Asian-American actor in the role rather than the talentless wonder bread we got.

At least we are finally getting Shang-Chi, which looks to be about what we wanted to see with Iron Fist all along. The interesting thing is that Iron Fist is the more popular character, but will come out of all this the less popular one.

Iron Fist is really only more popular because Shang Chi’s first appearances were pretty racist and they kind of buried the character. I like the MCU because they can do some mea culpas and improve some of the characters.

I'd be lying if I said I was excited to see this. About the only thing that does make me slightly excited is hearing Chadwick's last performance as the character. I get it that there clearly are a lot of people out there that enjoy the general What if...? concept. To me so far, it's just nothing more than seeing the same story told over again, just with a different character. Whoop di doo and kind of boring. I could care less about that concept in general. That is nothing against the character of Peggy Carter or anyone else, as I'm a big fan and really enjoyed her TV series as well. I'd just rather see her being more Peggy Carter and Chadwick being more Black Panther. It's probably why I'm not the biggest multiverse fan, and have a hard time feeling like I'm not alone. I'd just much rather they spend their efforts on telling me new stories with either existing or new characters. That is what I personally care about. Feel free to feel completely otherwise as I know there are lots of people who really like this type of stuff.

I don't know. Honestly I think they had a pretty clear plan of what the MCU was through the Infinity Saga. Now they need to use the brand to draw subs to Disney + and it seems like the model is changing.

I went into What If with low expectations, but I came away pleasantly surprised. They're not reinventing the wheel, but I appreciated the parallels as well as the changes to the original content. Sometimes it's refreshing to just sit through half an hour of fan service without having to commit to anything more.

It took me back to flipping through a comic book and then having a conversation with my brother about what he thought and what he would have changed.

I think this is their attempt to keep the younger fans on the hook.

It keeps people watching Disney+ until the next movies come out honestly. And if it sets up any of the multiverse stuff for the next phase it's a bonus.

Yeah I think people need to look at it as an effort to keep people from cancelling their subs.

I think Disney is in a unique place where they really don't have to put out that much stuff. The vault keeps people signed up regardless. I've got a 4 year old - he watches it every day. They can just keep dribbling this content out until they have the big shows and movies (Mando coming back, some of the new MCU shows, etc.) It's not all going to be home runs.

Yep, same here. My 4 year old watches Disney+ all the time. The continuing new Marvel and Star Wars content is just a bonus for me. I also get to watch Star Wars and Marvel movies whenever I want, which covers a ton of my favorite things.

Disney+ is almost an essential with young kids. Even if I hated everything Marvel and Star Wars, we would still always have it. Nobody has a kids back catalogue anywhere close to Disney. In the streaming wars discussion, I'd argue Paramount+ gets slightly underrated too due to older people missing its Nickelodeon content and its attraction to kids. I never would have guessed I'd say Paramount+ would be one of our borderline essential services, even as a big Star Trek fan, but it is. Kids love Nickelodeon.

Haven't caved on Paramount+ yet. We'll see. Maybe my brother and sister in law will get an account that I can sample.

I'd love to see actual data showing how many people are subscribed to subscription services versus how many are sharing accounts. I may know a grand total of one person that isn't sharing accounts with family or friends.

I don't know what you're talking about.

We have a lot that are just for us personally.

I feel like the increase in prices has been done to offset this obvious trend too. If they were all one login per account they would have a lot more subscribers and probably charge less.

Shang Chi initial reactions are out and they are through the roof. This was already my #1 most anticipated MCU movie, so I'm not sure I could be more excited.

That's awesome. I'm also really pumped for this one.

Outside of Nickelodeon, Star Trek, or CBS shows, it's pretty lacking. Has some Paramount Pictures movies too.
Paramount is launching some of their movies on Paramount Plus after 45 days in theaters. A Quiet Place 2, Snake Eyes, Jackass 4, Top Gun: Maverick and Mission Impossible 7(!) will also follow this model too.

I'm worried that xenophobic bigots are going to try and ruin Shang Chi like they've trashed every female led movie in the MCU.

It could be the best movie ever and people would **** on it because they're racist *****.

Other than Quiet Place 2 I have absolutely no need to pay to see any of those movies. That's just me I guess.
