I kind of assumed that he was getting ready to retire and wanted one shot to see if he could coach in the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't go back to coaching and instead starts working for ESPN

Steve won't be going anywhere. He's making me to much money this year. Thanks Steve, I laid the points last night and made a bundle.

Won’t be surprised in a year or two when Michigan gets investigated and their title vacated. It’s Michigan basketball, total cesspool. Beilien might not get in trouble directly but that doesn’t mean nothing happened under his watch.

Anybody who wouldn't take Beilein as the coach at Iowa St, has way too lofty expectations about who they think they can get.
I think you try to talk to him just to see if he entertains it, but you still have to retain in the back of your mind that the will need replaced soon.

Yes, but since 1948 Iowa St has only had 2 coaches that were here 7+ seasons.
Beilein could give 5 years and still be 72ish. I think it's unlikely, but if he's willing, you absolutely consider it. Ideally, he uses his connections and basketball intuition to bring in a young, talented assistant that can take over when he retires.

Well Prohm isn't going anywhere this season so it's kind of pointless right now. But if they were looking he is an obvious call.

I wouldn't take him solely on the age factor alone. He coaches for 5 years, we attain a modest level of success, and then he retires leaving us with blue balls. Sound familiar?

This is silly. He went to three Sweet 16s in his final 5 years at Michigan including a title game appearance in '18. I'd take him if it meant one Sweet 16.

He gets us to one sweet 16....that is the same as Prohm. I'll stick with Prohm over Beilein at this point.

But he had Michigan in the tournament 8 out of 10 years from 10-19. Prohm is at 3 out of 5 and trending the wrong way. You can keep Prohm, but if a guy like Beilein is available we have to take him.

If Beilein was 57 and not 67 I'd be all aboard that train

I would love Beilein, but I have to agree with cyfan92. That is just too advanced of an age. He would feel like a rental to me. If you were to tell me we could win a natty or get to the Final 4 with that rental, sign me up. But I don't think the risk would outweigh the reward

Pretty much all of our coaches have been rentals since Orr.
