Looking ahead…

Ending record after today’s game

  • 6-6

  • 7-5

  • 8-4

  • 9-3

  • 10-2

  • 11-1

Results are only viewable after voting.
8-4 certainly does not make the conference title game. 9-3 probably doesn’t do it. They were fortunate to get in last year at 10-2, if we’re being honest.

I would trade 10 straight losses to Iowa for 1 Big 12 championship. That would be the peak of Iowa State football and realistically is probably as good as it will ever get for us.

Any margin for error Iowa State had has been completely wiped out after today’s game. They cannot afford to lay another egg the rest of the way, which feels unlikely when you look at the schedule
I think people forgot how many things had to go right for us that were out of our control to make the Big 12 championship game last year.

WHen you historically play alot of 1 score games, kicker is one of the most important positions on your team.
And being able to run the football, somewhat, effectively.
Hopefully Hansen isn’t out for a serious amount of time, because I have very little faith Sama can be ‘the guy’

I think another week and the defense settles in a little bit. Still thinking 9-3 for the season, unfortunately i don’t think that will get us to the championship this year.

We were ass the first half. I believe (i hope) we figured it out on defense the second half (although cincy had a lot of penalties, so no I have not given up the ship.

We are in the golden age of Iowa State football precisely because of the football staff we have right now, today sucked but why would we doubt that they can turn it around?

If that happens we all will need to have a serious conversation about the state of the program lol
Oh, no. The rot!

I wasn't able to watch today so only tracked mostly, but after being down they clearly stopped the bleeding and battled a bit. Hopefully some experience and tape will allow the coaches to make some tweaks but nothing beats good health, and we need some badly. I took 9 wins, which is still a bummer after the start.

I wouldn't. I was in school during the 15 in a row streak, and those days can never return. However, I would trade the Iowa win for the Cincinnati loss this year to keep ISU undefeated and in first place in the Big XII, but 10 in a row. Just NO!

The Conference Championship thing doesn't really bother me. In both 2020 and 2024, ISU would have been Big XII Champions if we had the same system that Oklahoma State had in 2011 or Iowa had the last time they won the B1G.

ISU is one of the better programs in the Big XII and will win the Big XII CCG soon enough. Most likely, not this year but soon enough.

Yep, I think they convert a couple of those short yardage with Hansen in the game..

I'd bet we wouldn't be happy with that 10 game losing streak. ;)

Wins: Colorado, BYU, Oklahoma State

Tossups: ASU, Kansas

Loss: TCU

I picked 9-3, assuming we win one and lose one of the tossups.

I guess the crazy thing is losing at Cincinnati is not a bad loss (unless, like, Sorsby gets hurt and they lose out). But given the injuries it feels like you kind of had to have that one, because ASU, TCU, Kansas, and—heck—BYU are going to be tough games. CW briefly said in his postgame that, looking from October on, this season all the sudden seems a lot like last season, and I think that’s right. I would take 2-2 against the teams I mentioned, but I wouldn’t bet on it until I see who else got hurt today

We'd all take last season's results, right?

Yes, but his point was you may have to just move forward assuming the defense is average and unreliable, and that’s not a place I love the team being. Last season’s team had some secret sauce that pushed it over the historical finish line. They won their clunkers at Houston and Utah. This team has a tougher home schedule, and I don’t see them only dropping one at home

Depends on if Konrardy plays again soon or not. He’s a huge difference.
We would likely have 12 more points if we had a kicker. They didn’t trust Smith to kick a 32 yarder to make it a 6 point game

Maybe, but I'd like to see at least another game before we decide that the defense is awful. It sure might be. Or maybe they'll figure out a few things.

Also Houston, we won 20-0. I don't call that a clunker. And not really evidence of the defense being average and unreliable. But, I don't really consider last year's defense to be as awful as it apparently was.

Feels like we’ve missed our shots. We were insanely loaded during the Purdy era — completely wasted. Somewhat similar situation with Brecht, and this train ride is nearing its end.

We have so little margin for error that we need perfect execution. I thought we had fixed many of the bone-headed coaching decisions this season; things were looking great. And then we do… this.
