I was an assistant manager at the LJS in Vallejo, CA back in the early 80s. I agree with the posters that say the quality of food and speed of service have gone downhill in recent years. I used to love the fish...but now they let it sog in the fryer until it's a greasy mess. I think part of the problem is that they tried to diversify too much. Each added menu item slows service. When all you serve is fish & fries, you can crank out a lunch/dinner rush pretty quickly. Multiple menu items cooked in different ways require that each meal be essential cooked after ordered. Might as well go to a sit-down restaurant for that.
I've had the fish & chips at whatever it's called on South Duff. Excellent flavor...but you still have to wait while they cook it.
