Lincoln Riley post game

Maybe they should have thrown the a flag. But that's still just 15 yards, not 7 points right? To think it's a forgone conclusion OU scores a TD then converts on a 2 pointer or, kicks the extra point and then wins in OT is a huge stretch. Because after jumping to a 17-3 lead........they only scored 13 more points. And the only TD was set up by our turnover in their territory. So say what they want, we weren't handed the game. Especially with having around 100 yards in penalties ourselves. Give it a rest crimson and cream.

17-6. Was 10-6 after each had two possessions

This was a beautiful thing to listen to. I laughed when he said at the end that you don't know how hard it is to lose until you've been through. Well no ****, Lincoln. The talking about how close they were to winning last night was pretty funny because that is the same stuff we do when Iowa State loses. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Very little talk about Iowa State being any good.
I was going to ask how the whole interview went as I only could listen to the 1st 2.5 minutes. Thx for the insight and I agree!

Well, I mean, Eisworth got away with holding on the game-sealing INT. Does that mean we have arrived as a program? :jimlad:
No we need a few more calls like that annually on defense and offense consistently over the next 10-20 years to achieve that!

If anything...they could have called holding on Iowa State but I believe it would have only been 5 yard penalty...Oklahoma would still have had work to do just to tie the game.

Honestly, there was a lot worse grabbing and holding going on the entire game.

I lost a lot of respect for Rattler...you are the leader of that team and you whine about one call that cost you the game. Here’s a thought...don’t throw into double coverage
Is it different in the ncaa than nfl? Isn’t the difference in the NFL between holding and PI if the ball has been thrown or not? Is that different in the NCAA? The ball had definitely already been thrown.

Also, this Rattler kid is really coming off like a whiny little *****. Has Brock EVER complained about bad calls? Seems like after any loss, Brock’s line is usually “I did this wrong, I did this wrong, I let down my team and the fans and I’m going to do this and this to get better.”
Rattler apparently comes off as a pompous **** in qb1
100% can see this. Kinda seems like a super talented kid that knows he’s super talented and has had nothing but people kissing his ass his whole life.
We will get an opportunity to know this kid in conference for alleast another year. You develop opinions, likes/dislikes of players as you go.

I think he is a very talented QB. I'm not sure I like him as a person particularly. We'll see in time.

A person complained yesterday in game Thread that we shouldn't be comparing him to Mahomes yet. Well this is one area Rattler is very un-Mahomes-like!

Yeah. It's being overlooked that Young was on time as the ball was reaching it's destination. Even if the WR gets there on time, it would be a tough contested catch against him at best. The throw itself was extremely dangerous.

Yeah, he would have had a hard time getting to the ball with Young down there. The hold was absolutely nothing compared to what they were doing to ISU guys at the LOS or even down field. Kolar in particular was being grabbed and pushed all the way down the field. What Elsworth did was a pat on the back compared to what OU was doing the whole game, and don't even get me started of their OL holding.

He reminded me of a smaller, albino version of Maholmes. He's pretty talented.

I think it was a good no call. Looked like he may have had a handful of jersey, and that is technically defensive holding, but he obviously didn’t impede the offensive player from making a play as the jersey never moved, and Eisworth’s arm didn’t even move...he was with him step-for-step. Rattler overthrew his man in double coverage, end of story. Looked like Eisworth was positioned ready to prevent the touchdown (like his earlier PI).
Just curious. Technically, would that have been ruled a catchable ball by the WR? Seemed like it would have been well over him.

PI in the end zone puts the ball on the 2. Did it happen before or after they got into the end Zone?
I think that is only the case when the line of scrimmage is within 15 yards of the endzone, as defensive pass interference is a spot foul if the foul occurs within 15 yards. Excess of 15 yards and it's a 15 yard penalty. Also the contact on the play in question was well before the endzone.

That doesn’t matter on defensive holding, since it occurred before the ball was thrown.

This made me even more confused.

“Number of Yards
When a defensive pass interference occurs in the NFL, the ball is placed at the spot of the foul. If the penalty occurs in the end zone, the ball will be placed on the 1 yard line. For college football, the penalty is the lesser of 15 yards and the spot of the foul. If the penalty occurs in the end zone the ball is placed on the 2 yard line. Both the NFL and College also award an automatic first down. On the offensive side the NFL has a 10 yard penalty and College has a 15 yard penalty.”

College football has most of the truly innovative minds in football. The NFL has just a small portion of them. Most NFL coaches are retreads... guys that have been in the league for decades because of their reputation.

With that said, Riley is one of the best in all of football calling offense. Some of his schemes are changing the game as a whole.

With that said, he's a lot more like Kliff Kingsbury or Art Briles than a championship level HC. He should be in the NFL.

Plus, OU is struggling to recruit. They'll continue to beat up the big 12, but they won't sniff a national title while Lincoln is there.

Oh well they could be Texas. OU knows that so Lincoln is their guy as long as he wants to be there.

Many of OU players were holding/interfering on both sides of the ball much of the game. I had not really realized this may be a common theme for OU over the years, until @Cycsk pointed it out about a week ago in one of his posts. I believe it now. It might be part of their culture? Over-aggressiveness/penalties, maybe so. And they usually get the benefit of the doubt because they are OU. The adjective for that is alluding me at the moment, but they expect to get the calls the majority of the time because of who they are. Add: "entitled", that's it! Thank you @Steve, post #59!!

I think of them as "spoiled brats" who don't think the rules apply to them because they are Oklahoma.

Heck after wins his post game interviews he still talks about what needs to be better. Campbell does have them believing in continual improvement.

We saw this too on the other end. They almost always had someone a few years out on the field.
Well they are Oklahoma...and you know..., rules don't apply to them! Haha. I agree!

Would have been before he loosened up the defense as the 2nd man came in to position to play D. At least that's the way I remember it.
