Lake Ames

If you go to your link and after the Ames slideshow click on the Oskaloosa slideshow you will see some pictures taken by cyclonefan33. He is on the board occasionally and is Jeff Kelderman. Some of the pictures show his place of business completely flooded out. He and his Dad are the ones with the big customized black Ford truck that has been spotted tailgating at ISU football games.

Highway 30 closed at I-35 coming from Nevada. Traffic being re-directed north on I-35 (can't get to the I-35 south ramp due to lane closure) to 13th Street. Calling for portions of 13th Street to be overtopped later today.

Water near the tops of the ditches along I-35 southbound.

Anyone have an extra Ark laying around??

Looking at the map anyone out there where KG is will have to play Columbus, go west to get east. What a mess. I will now stop wishing for rain for my lawn, it could be worse!

Tried to get from West Ames, North to Jewell to work today and couldn't get out. I went as far west as Boone and tried to go North. No dice. Want to go help sandbag but can't get to City Hall.

Ahhh.. Memories of 1993. Feel for you guys up there.

So how many 500 year floods have we had in the past 17 years? 3? 4? Trying to remember, did they up the '93 flood to 1000 year flood?

This is crazy stuff. My brother lives in west ames so he's fine, but one of our best buds apartment building flooded and they got evacuated by boat and of course my brother is in a dead sleep not knowing any of this is going on so my friend is trying to find a way to my brothers apartment still for the last however long.

Well, looks like I won't be going up to Ames today. Was going to move a few things into my new apartment...but from what I've heard there's no way to get there. Hopefully this clears up soon before most of the students move up in a few days or it will be madness.

I couldn't find a way to highway 69 (I'm out by the practice facility), spent 45 minutes driving around Ames and couldn't find a way out.

I couldn't get past Campus from South Ames either:sad: I spent an hour trying different routes, but then thankfully work canceled.

Water was about 2 feet below Highway 30 near Dayton Avenue, there may not be any ways to get into Ames tomorrow...

Tell me about it. I live in Nevada but work in Ames. I spent 2 1/2 hours and 60 miles trying to find a way into work with no luck. Ames looks worse than it did in 93.

'93 I got stuck on the east side of the river. Lived over on Lynn Ave.

Ended up having to drive north of Story City and still drove though some water I really shouldn't have - solid hour plus to make that normal 10 minute trip

It's astounding how cutoff one can be in Ames during these situations.
