Just got out from driving around in Ames to watch the flooding, and all the lots between Hilton and Jack Trice are flooded. South Duff is flooded and the apartments on S. 5th west of Walmart also look to be flooded. It was dark so it was hard to see what exactly was flooded. It will be a fun day in Ames tomorrow... not...

I live in Nevada and we lost power for three hours, water in the basement AGAIN. This **** is getting really old, I am very worried about Ames it is not looking good at all.

how bad is south duff? The GF has work tomorrow morning at Best Buy, any chance of that happenin?

Well, since it's already tomorrow, I'd say no.

In addition to Lake Ames, there's also forecast of four-mile creek going over I-80 DM)perhaps as early as 5 this a.m.

Lots of flooding on south Duff, a while ago water behind the auto parts store ? was headed toward the back of WalMart.

Sandbagging at Hilton. Wish i was in town to help. Read it on KCCI. They started at 1:30

I am not sure, from what I heard sheets of rain came down for a couple of hours, this mixed with the ground already being saturated created a bad situation.

How much rain did you guys get down there and how fast?

Last I checked it was a touch over 5 in my guage, this on top of 2 last night and 6 sunday night.

On a side note i currently have about 15 inches of water in my basement as water is flowing out of all my basement drains, shower, and toilet. Kids whole toy room is under water. Never had anything like this happen before with worse rains in 08. Gotta love our supposedly new and improved sewer system here in Huxley.

I couldn't find a way to highway 69 (I'm out by the practice facility), spent 45 minutes driving around Ames and couldn't find a way out.

I'm out west near Ontario and trying to find a way to I-35 to head to DM. Haven't figured it out yet because i can't find Story Co. road closures. I want to know if I can head north on county line road then east to Gilbert, then south/east to I35.

I had 4 inches. It probably came over a span of a couple hours, but I don't remember when it started for sure. It was filling the rain gauge fast at one point I know. I could actually watch it rise.
