Yes, he has some limitations but he is the best option we had at QB position this season.
In theory so were all of our starters at their respective positions. Are you suggesting we do not comment on their performance?

Kempt is a good story and better guy, and it’s natural to give the QBs too much blame and credit. Stop box-score watching.

Are you disappointed in DM for his stats?

None of that happens for such an immobile and limited QB without good Oline play and great effort by WRs. Yet, almost everyone is fine with acknowledging that our Oline play left a lot of plays and yards on the field. The QB position is no different.
Have I ever said we won only because of Kyle Kempt? It was a team effort. Park was doing less with more talents but the people who are bashing Kempt didn’t seem to be too critical of his play

Dudes a baller. He spoiled us doing as well as he did mid-season. He’d since come off injury, practiced over weeks leading up to the bowl, then played in a game on the other team’s home field in not so great conditions & led the team to victory.

I openly questioned if we needed to change to Zeb in the game thread after he underthrew a wobbler that looked like an ill-fated INT waiting to happen. Thought we needed someone with a tight spiral to better push the balll down the field. Boy, was I wrong (shocker) & I’ve since revelled in the victory & enjoyed my crow with some champagne (courtesy of Kempt & boys). He got bashed some while being a Big XII QB. He can deal with it so others should be able to as well

I hope like heck he comes back next year and would have zero problems with him as starter. When he wasn't hurt he was playing like a 5th year senior that has started all 4 years he played. I'll take him over pothead any day all day.....

Some posters here continue to bash Kyle Kempt. All he did today was threw over 300 + yard with 2 TD and no INT and completed 63% of his passes. He took over as the starting QB when this team desperately needed a QB and led his team to 8-5 record and a bowl win. Of course the naysayers will discredit his accomplishment and give all the credit to defense and receivers. He led this team to 3 wins against ranked teams and threw over 300 yard in a bowl game. How many ISU QBs have accomplish that in their career? All QBs have strengths and weaknesses. Kempt does not have a strong arm but he is a great leader and game manager. He has a better QB rating than Park and Norland but some posters here continue to bash him. Our coaching staffs believe Kempt gives a best chance to win games. Norland would have started if the coaching staffs thought he was the best option at QB. To some of our football experts on this board, Kempt sucks and it is better for this team to not have him next year even though he has done things that no other ISU QB has ever done before.
IMO theres a few on here who get their fix by "correcting" viewpoints of others. So in love with the former qb that any success KK has stings. Don't let it bother you or feel the need to defend KK
I know he gives ZERO Fukks about what they say.

If not Kempt, who should start? Park? Norland? You continues to bash Kempt at every opportunity and gives back-handed complements.

I like the guy but he was bailed out today many times. That being said his demeanor on the field is invaluable. If nothing else next year I hope he is a grad assistant.

Yeah, the guy will be a Cyclone great for what happened while he was playing, but some guys on here act like you're being a bad fan if you point out his physical limitations. Of the 10 catches that Lazard made today half of them were way off target and AL made great plays to get them. He is one cool cat out there for sure, and that is worth a lot. Still looks to me like he hasn't fully recovered from his shoulder injury.

Highly doubtful that he gets a sixth year, so I guess we need to enjoy what he was able to get done this year and move on.

Kempt reminds me of NFL guys like Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson or Alex Smith. All guys that are/were successful but won't win any best QBs of all time debates. I'm not saying Kempt is an NFL QB. He is just a guy that can usually make smart decisions with the football and doesn't let the situation get too big for him.

Some/most of his balls today didn't look very good coming out of his hand, but when you have receivers like that to throw to sometimes you don't need to throw the best ball.

The difference is Kempt threw over 300 yard with 2 TD and no INT. That is a great stat for a QB. Kempt also provides good leadership which does not show up on a stat sheet.

He was also bailed out on one actual pick in the red zone and threw the next ball up for grabs.

God bless number 17 but Lazard and the receivers played their ass off. The highlights show throw after throw caught off of the turf.

I'm sure he's a great young man and I'm not slamming him. He is an ok QB but a FANTASTIC story

Every QB gets lucky and bailed out at times. I think it happened more with Park with his wild over thrown passes. Lucks even out. Kempt also has had bad luck when receivers dropped well-thrown passes.

I disagree that it happened more with Park, because Park's bad throws were so high that nobody could reach them.

I like Kempt and appreciate what he did for us this year. Played within himself and didn't force much. Just what we needed in a year where we had to take a small step forward

That said, ISU will need to find a better talent before we can say they've officially turned the corner.

Thank you for helping us get a bowl victory today, Kyle

Was Park good enough QB to turn the corner?

He must be the luckiest QB in college football history. He completed over 65% of his passes and threw for 15 TD and only 3 INT. Yes, he gets bailed out sometimes but so as every QB. How many times Park overthrew receivers or threw into coverage but nothing bad happened?

Kid is smart but lucky too, having some of the best receivers Iowa State has had in years.
