Kyle Kelm is.....

That's my only issue. And, again, I bet someone will transfer by then. Maybe a guy like Booze to get more playing time. Though we are playing a lot of guys, someone probably will want a change. The problem is if no one does.

Like you have said, I don't think it will come to it. But if we did have to tell someone they weren't getting a scholarship anymore, we certainly wouldn't be the first. I really don't think anyone could use it against us because everyone does it. Just look at other schools' scholarship situations and you'll see how it plays out.

I'm not really a fan, but I've been following Duke closely since starting grad school here. There have been several players who left (King, Boateng, Boykin) since I've been here. The stories are diverse, but I guarantee at least one (Boykin) was told he probably wasn't gonna hang and that he should maybe leave.

My point is that everyone does it. Of course that doesn't necessarily make it right, but I don't think it will come back to haunt us as you think it will.

I think it's up in the air if such a move would even hurt us. But if we pride ourselves on building things the "right way", as many people do.......doing things honestly and whatnot.....it would be a jerk move. Simple as that. It's a borderline unethical way to treat the student athletes you brought to your university, whether or not it happens.

I'd like to think we pride ourselves on doing things the right way...."Honor Before Victory" as the sign at Jack Trice says. But there is so much Tim Floyd love that I wonder if this is really true. Floyd never hesitated to bring in a recruit then run them off if he could get someone better. I don't think McDermott will do that. After all, this whole debate is about one scholarship needing to be free in the next 2+ years. It's not like he's signing 7 players and chasing away 3 of them every year.

Barnes would be a Clone is his handler wanted him here . . the latter has an axe to grind with ISU. Barnes will not be here.

If it ment Harrison Barnes on this team, GMac would run a player off by any means necessary. HB is job security for him and he knows it. It's not every day ISU has a chance at a McD's All American.

I wouldn't call Jake a handler. AAU Coach yes. It's not like all talk between ISU and Harrison goes through Jake. I believe it is the exact opposite.

Just because Jake said he didn't think McD's style of play was the best for Harrison's game doesn't mean he is handling HB. I haven't heard that Jake is positioning himself for a job with whatever program HB goes to.

his highschool coach is very involved as well.
 
My god guys this is TWO YEARS AWAY!!! Plenty of **** can happen from now until then. Give it a rest.

Btw, does anyone know why Jake has been sitting behind the the Drake bench in the last couple of games?

You didn't hear? Sullivan is going to be the associate head coach there in 2010 and a certain player he works with is going to be signing a letter of intent there next Fall as well. :wink:

When handled well, it can be a positive. Personally, I am guessing this is why Boozer and Mann are playing as true freshmen, so they preserve their redshirt for the year they have to sit out after transferring.

Snowcraig, that was not my point nor does it have anything to do with what I was talking about. You shouldn't sign 7 guys one year if you plan on kicking them out 2 years later. It was a mistake on McDermotts part. He got nervous after having 2 poor basketball seasons and needed some immediate help.

Yep. There is a difference between recruiting over someone, and GIVING SOMEBODY YOUR SCHOLARSHIP!!! If peple can't see the difference than they are just being blind with Cyclone love.

Keep in mind, I really would like both of them, but it'd come at the expense of one of our scholarship athletes. And to tell one of your players that you need his scholarship for a better player, doesn't usually go over real well.

Exactly. Imagine a coach coming in, convincing you to go to his school. You work your *** off for 2 years to get better. You are no better than the 8th best player on the team. Coach pulls you in and says we are giving your scholarship to this top 100 basketball player. I am sure most of you would understand

You really don't get it. UNC and Duke never fill up their scholarhip amount!! EVER. You said you are a Duke fan, so you should know that. So when people leave, it is not b/c players are being given other players scholarships

Let's get mad about something that hasn't happened involving a player who hasn't committed about scholarships that may or may not be open!
