KSU @ ISU Postgame Thread******

Some of the best ISU teams of all time basically played 7 players.

I'm sorry. The fact that we are competitive with one big 12 level guard (DG), two quality shooters that are limited athletically (JVB and SC), an undersized guard who is tough but not particularly skilled (JA), three unpolished freshman, one of which sees limitied action (ME, CG, and JR) and a walk-on.

This isn't Fizer's seven, this is 7 guys that only maybe 2 would have seen more than 10 minutes on a quality team.

I hate that ******* play at the end of the game with DG it never ******* works. There was no need to run the clock down they were going to get the ball no matter what. Atleast Scotty try it down the stretch he wasnt missing.

Nah. Why do that when you can put DG in a position where he has to force up a shot whether its there or not while everyone else stands around watching?

Why run the clock down?

Don't run the clock down, go for a two-for-one. If KSU tries to run the clock, foul and get the ball back at worst down one with a chance for the winning shot.

Every other team in America would do that same thing at that point in the game. We score we are up 3 or 4, would you rather they have 30 seconds to score 3 or 4 points or 12 seconds?

Bull-*******-****.

I've had time to watch some games on ESPN Classic this week, and the best teams are looking to score, no matter what the time left on the shot clock is. They're playing to win, instead of playing not to lose.

If we did have one timeout, I really think the play would have been to get it in the front court and immediately call time out. Then you probably have 2 full seconds to get a shot off, and it would likely not have been a falling away 35 footer. Well, crap

We had one timeout left. Doubt it would've made a difference though.

I'd like to see us run a weave up top to create more motion at the end of games.

Otherwise...the problem lies primarily on the defensive side of the court with our team.

+1 This loss, like many of the others is on the defense, or lack there of. Coaching is fine if the PG doesn't try to do the same exact thing with the ball every time. This isn't Jr. High, it is not a one dimensional set play. Move, pass the ball, don't take the same godforsaken off balance, fade away, high off the glass, bank shot that has gone in NO times in the last 2 minutes of any game this season.

Did we seriously just lose a home game in which we shot 56% from the field, 50% from 3, were 22-24 from the line, and only had 10 turnovers? I can't tell what's real anymore.

As much as it has happened this season, I'm still surprised at how we manage to choke at the end of games.

It is getting very disturbing. Is there nobody on the team or the staff that understands that the same old ******** 'give the ball to Diante and let him run the shot clock down to 6 seconds before he forces up a terrible shot' play is ABSOLUTELY NOT WORKING!?!?

Ya that deffense was freaking pathetic. When are we going to figure out that if the other team plays a little white kid that he can probably shoot the 3 why leave him so wide open, the only reason why he is playing college baseketball is because he can shoot.

I'd give SC a little more credit. He just dropped 24 and only had two 3's. He did a great job creating his own shots today.

Then what do you suggest? ISO Scotty, you think that would yield a better result? Let JVB post up? Ejim drive? Jake drive to the rim? What scenario would you rather see than Diante going to the basket-- what gives us a better chance of winning?

pretty sure the last two possessions before DG's horrible shot consisted of a floater, from Scotty and a turn around jumper, from Scotty. So yes, ISO Scotty our best shooter.
DG knew he didnt have a shot at the end. His problem is knowing when to pass it and when to force it. Once again, he plays great all game then fails in the clutch.

That's what I thought (kind of phrased that as a question, rather than being rhetorical).

It may not have, but I think you improve your odds. And I agree that you might as well leave 30 seconds, rather than 20 for their final possession. Why not start the offense with 20 rather than 10? Gives you an opportunity to back out if the plays not there.

Oh well........I'm as frustrated for the team as anything. They deserve to get some of these, and I'd like to get this last minute thing out of their heads.

No, the coaching isn't fine. We've failed every time we've tried to throw the game on DG's shoulders because its DG against the other team. I can defend any player when they just stand still and watch.

Is this the Baylor message board?

And don't forget, a 6-point lead with 3 minutes left!

But that's all OK, because we have only 7 players and this was just a throwaway season anyway.
