This reinforces my decision to not listen. To just flat out assume that a guy who has been injured for months is "just sitting out" is terrible journalism. But I shouldn't be surprised.
I was baited into listening to the podcast. I don't think I heard anything authoritative, just opinions.

Since we are talking about speculation here, why do people now particularly care what R Peterson thinks or has to say? I guess I will defer to CW on that, this time. I have to say that I admire RP's work ethic over the years. I can't say that I feel he was someone that I eagerly awaited, each week or day, to read or hear about what he had to say about the Cyclones though.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't he assigned by the Register to cover the Cyclone beat, over the years (40+ years)? And further, while he may be a Cyclone fan, due to the fact that he covered the Cyclones, isn't he also a Hawkeye fan at heart? I guess I would just prefer to have a reporter, who I would have to listen to frequently, also be a true fan of the team he is covering.

I would be open to listen to someone else, other than Randy, maybe anyone else other than Randy, on the subject of Keshon. Otherwise, it is purely speculation. Keshon deserves more, I think. And honestly, speculation from Randy, and an Iowa fan, is what this appears to me. No thanks.

Not after Otz’s none answer at his presser.
Yep, if he was going to travel they would have said something like he reaggravated his injury and is out indefinitely. Not that they are moving forward without him and not give any more info.

I don't think a beat reporter needs to be a fan. But I don't think they need to be a curmudgeon either. It isn't surprising that this curmudgeon assumes the worst of a Cyclone.

The subtext for people who are mad at Keshon is that he is healthy enough to play and is choosing not to for reasons not explained.

I've watched him the past two months and i don't think he's healthy enough to contribute, so for me it's not a huge thing. I just don't know what people have been watching or seeing to think he's ready to go, but won't.

As far as Petersen and Williams making a thing about KG being evasive to questioning about his health in recent weeks as a major bullet point to their insinuation he's opted out, keep in mind that evasiveness may have come from his own coaches who didn't want him speaking openly before the seeding for the tournament was announced. They seem to want to give TJ credit for this, without acknowledging that framing Keshon's responses to the press when asked about it would be job #1 there.

Keshon never did anything publicly for people to claim he's a quitter in his time here. Actually plenty to the opposite. If people have evidence he's ready to play but refuses to, it's time to show that, or forget about it.
Randy, well he is Randy so we can throw anything he says out. CW is fanatical about "its our right to know everything about injuries club" which greatly colors his opinions. kG at times still played great D, but is clearly a step slow, in pain and isn't getting better. Maybe he can go but I agree probably shouldn't both for the team and his future. A 100% KG would put us in that 2nd best team in the country area again, but with our without this decision that's not happening. My team is on the court.

True, and well said.

What a cluster****. This is 2 years out of 4 now we've had to deal with a huge distraction coming right at the most important part of the season
You need to find something that makes you happy in your life. It's clearly not Iowa State sports. You have to be the most pessimistic/knee-jerk reaction poster I've ever seen.

A few days on the road supporting your team during the pinnacle event of the season isn't going to significantly derail an injury rehab effort. This and the non answers from TJ leading up to this are more than enough to fuel speculation that more is going on here.

As I recall, up to this point this season our injured players have traveled to road games. Why would it be different now? If anything there was a bigger reason to stay home and rehab earlier in the season when players were trying to get back. There are no games to rush back for with Gilbert right now.

Not sure how old NoPositivity is but I am confident young people deal and handle adversity way better than he does.
This is true. I probably shouldn't be talking about young people when many coaches prowl up and down the sidelines for 40 minutes and act like maniacs in full public display and it's generally seen as acceptable behavior by fans.
