Kansas Must Be Destroyed

I watched a little bit of the KU vs WV game on Saturday.... Man, Self looks worn down and rough. Seems like he's had enough.

Unless I am mistaken ISU has only won twice in Lawrence (2005, 2017) in the last 25 years.

I enjoy winning every game as much as the next person, and this may not be Self's best team......but winning there is every bit as if not more difficult than Hilton. Records aside, I will be pleasantly surprised if ISU comes out with a W.

But have we had a better team in 25 Years, and has Kansas had a worse team?

It seems we are coming out of half much better than in years past.

Part of our slow starts is Jefferson and Lipsey letting the game come to them. Once they feel the game out typically it’s different. Momcilovich is the same way, once he sees a shot go through the hoop he tends to go nuts for a bit until the other team adjusts.

I have been really happy with player rotations. I’d say Batemon is due for a nice game coming up, it’s been a couple games since we have heard from him. Dom Nelson was perfect yesterday in his role. I would like to see him make some things happen Tuesday.

Above all else stay healthy.
I said as soon as the refs whistled 10 fouls in the first 8 minutes of game play that Dom Nelson needed to come in and quick. Dude knows how to get to the foul line better than any of our other guards. He is the perfect player for that kind of game. (Not the kind of game that is fun to watch though).

Yea I thought that too. I figured if they were calling them we might as well be on the right end of it

Wish I could watch it but I have boycotted watching that cheating bastard and his annual bought and paid for teams for maybe a decade now. Even when they play ISU I won't watch them. It's maybe the only sports team, pro or college, that I actually hate because of their years of smug cheating. Maybe the only good thing about NIL is all of the schools have bag men now and it's not like underground Kansas mafia and the other elites playing by their own rules.

Up until three years ago though the talent discrepancy was pretty damn big, even with some of those Hoiberg teams. AFH will always be a tough place to play but it certainly feels like teams have a better chance now compared to historicals.

Going to be very interesting to see how the season goes and if Self ends up hanging it up. If Stokes ends up picking KU like experts think, Self will have the #1 class coming in. Does he then stay another year? He has obviously lost his edge and the last few years his teams have been the softest Self teams I've seen. That transfer rule would make coaching extremely tough and probably more of a younger mans game. I would think hiring a GM would take away some of that headache but rumors say he's not interested in doing that.

ISU, -3.5 favorite at the Phog.

wow.

According to Google AI:
The last time the Iowa State men's basketball team was favored against Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse was today, January 12, 2026.
Prior to this game, a report from the Des Moines Register highlighted the rarity of the event, indicating it had been an extremely long time, if ever, that Iowa State had been a favorite in Lawrence. The current game (Jan 12, 2026) marks a significant moment in the rivalry, with Iowa State listed as the favored team.

If we get screwed over on some made up foul call, I am driving to Lawrence to fight a ref. We have got screwed against Kansas so many times, I just can't deal with it when we are ranked 2nd. I am not talking a normal controversial type foul. I am talking the fould on Georges after the guy charged him, the fantom 3. All that type of nonsense. We better not get hosed.

And all 7 of those contests are in the last 12 seasons:

2025 - #8 ISU @ #16 KU (52-69)
2023 - #14 ISU @ #2 KU (60-62)
2022 - #15 ISU @ #9 KU (61-62)
2019 - #24 ISU @ #9 KU (76-80)
2016 - #21 ISU @ #1 KU (78-85)
2015 - #11 ISU @ #8 KU (76-89)
2014 - #16 ISU @ #6 KU (81-92)

Last year is the only one where ISU was ranked higher and the only one where KU wasn't in the Top 10.
