I think we will play really well against Kansas. The TT loss had to increase the urgency within the team and staff. I think we see that on Saturday. I personally hope we lose the coin toss so we can get the ball first. This kicking off and the other team scoring a TD to start the game is not a good look. I want a well scripted first drive by us that ends in a 7-0 lead.
Last year I thought we got out coached and out played at home by Kansas. So there's that.

What I remember from that game is a bizarre reversal on an Iowa State first down on their first possession by the replay official (no one questioned the call) but replay officials did not even look at the bad call when they whistled Noel out of bounds on the punt return. He wasn't even close to stepping out of bounds and the ref was staring down the line. The punt returned call back cost Iowa State a TD.

Anyone know from watching KU and/or know what their stats say...is Kansas a good pass rush team?

I'd ideally like to see a bounce back OL game where Rocco is comfortable and has ample time to throw without having to improvise.

Just looking at stats, they are 3rd in the league in sacks, so I imagine they are aggressive on that aspect. I've only watched maybe a combined quarter of KU all year long, so take that for what it's worth.

An interesting note in the stats department. We lead the league with the fewest amount of sack yardage allowed, yet are second to last in sack yardage by our defense (ahead of only Houston). And yes, I realize our defense is not geared towards sacks as much as it is coverage and contain.

From what i remember they cannot review a play being called out if they call it out live with a whistle. So instead of letting a play, play out and reviewing after to see if he stepped out. They had to stick with the on field decision of it being called out.

Still a wrong call and cost ISU a TD opportunity

Kansas will just choose to receive and we will be down 7-0 once again before I have barely settled onto my couch.

Even if we get the ball first, KU will still score a touchdown on their first offensive possession.

I align more with Mahoney on game predictions. I think the defense is gassed and banged up, and the offense is a little broken currently. Grant predicts 28-24 KU. Like him, I just have a difficult time seeing Iowa State getting a win right now. The two teams seem like they're headed in opposite directions

There is no doubt in my mind KU scores easily on the first drive. There is some history on our end to support that.

would be super cool if maybe came out in a completely different package the first series or something. whats the worse that can happen? They score a TD?
1st Kansas drive result in aTD is +225.

Id like to see us run more and throw slants and screens if KU is bringing pressure.

They just always sound angry.

It's definitely going to be meltdown time if they don't get the W, though.

You thought I was sounding 'angry' by talking about how KU plays? It was a realistic take.

How's it working out? Do I sound angry saying it's 28-10?

“Aggressive”?

They’re 14th in the league in total defense. They’re giving up even more rushing yards per game than we are. Their pass defense is 13th.

Apparently you mean…overly aggressive? Passive aggressive?

How is this going?

You misunderstood, but thats fine. I was trying to be clever and sometimes it doesn't work. As I said, this result will cause some disention.
