NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Breece isn't doing anything behind an inconsistent line and why pay for him when you can get similar production from 2 backs at a lower price? Pacheco and Hunt look fine. All they need a back for is to set up PA. I'm not sure why anyone pays big $$$ for running backs this day and age. You pay top tier QB's, Tackles, and game changing defensive lineman.
Elite QBs change roster construction math. If you've got a solid mid-tier QB, paying a premium for one of the half a dozen or so high-end backs is probably worth it.

You pay it because it takes the pressure off of everyone else. Pacheco and Hunt run until they run into a defender, neither has the ability to make a player miss and take it to the house. Hall would add that ability to the Chiefs, making their offense even harder to defend. Hall would costs the Chiefs a little more than $2 million to finish out the season, if you like what you get out of him, then make him an offer in the off season, if not, then let him walk.
Who are they going to trade for him? Getting picks and getting the most out of guys who are on rookie contracts is why they have been so successful and been able to stay under the cap. I don't see Hall as that big of an upgrade over what we currently have. Breece and Pacheco have put up almost identical numbers in their careers. Get some help on the defensive side of the ball or offensive line.

I would agree but I'm only paying a guy like Barkley or Travis Henry. In general running backs don't stay healthy enough to pay these days. Pacheco being hurt early, bad offensive line play, and bad play calling is why their RB's didn't look great the first 4 weeks.

In a perfect world you would trade Hunt for Hall plus the draft pick. Both Pacheco and Hunt give you the same thing, neither has the ability to make a person miss and take it too the house. Hall would give that ability to the Chiefs, putting more pressure on the defense. The Cowboys are in on Hall as well, so the Jets are just not going to give him away. The offensive line is fine, adding depth to the D line would also be nice, but getting a back like Kamara or Hall along with Rice coming back would make the offense nearly unstoppable.
The Jets line is horrible, putting Hall behind the Chiefs line would upgrade his numbers far better than either Hunt or Pacheco is going to give the team.

I assume that contract Josh Allen has probably makes them a little less talented every year as some of their younger guys become free agents. Obviously still a good team but in terms of talent it seems like 2-3 years ago was probably their year to win it if they were going to. Can't pick the Chiefs as the best team in the AFC right now because they are 3-3 but are you really scared of anyone in the AFC based on what you've seen so far? Especially considering the Chiefs seem to be finding their groove and getting healthy.
The AFC looked so loaded with young quarterbacks couple years ago but hasn't came to fruition luckily. Ravens have not played well in Playoffs this year won't even make it, bengals have been a disaster. It's pretty much been Bills and Chiefs 1A and B. Still might be this year but Bills look worse imo than previous teams. The Broncos and Chargers aresolid across the board with really good coaches. The Patriots are really coming on and I love Maye as a player but might be a year away. I haven't seen Colts play but yet. I think there's several teams that could best Chiefs but nobody I think would be favored over the Chiefs other than maybe @Buffalo in the AFC right now.

Injuries have killed most of the teams in the AFC, Bengals lost Barrows for the year, Baltimore has had a ton of injuries, Chargers lost both their starting offensive tackles and their running back. The Colts have only played two decent teams, Denver and Rams, splitting those two games. It's going to come down to the Chiefs and Bills.

They are awful. I think id probably try and get a pick or 2 out of him myself. Sometimes you are better off dumping even the few good players you have and just starting over again.
The articles I read this morning says he is on the block, and he posted a message of FREE#20 on social media. They would be thin at rb without Hall so offer them Hunt to finish out the year. Most of the articles thought the Chiefs, Cowboys, Chargers and Bears were all looking for running backs.

Id certainly trade Hunt for Hall but I'd see if they'd take somebody else before Hunt first. He's durable and dirt cheap. I think he's more valuable to the team than he gets credit for.

He is a decent back, but if the Jets need a back to replace Hall, it's going to have to be either him or Pacheco. They are both the same type of back, so your really do not get much difference when they are in the game. It would be nice have a set up like the Lions have with Montgomery being the bruiser and their back adding the speed. Getting Hall would give the Chiefs that type of setup.

Offer Hunt and a 5th round pick and see if they bite, it not move it up to Hunt and a 4th round selection. The Chiefs are going to be hurt matching up with other teams on giving up draft picks because we pick so late in each round. So a 4th by the Cowboys or bears is a higher pick than a 4th pick from KC.

Id trade Hunt and no higher than a 4th. They could always just resign him next year because I'm sure the Jets would let him walk since he'll be a 30 year old free agent at the end of the season.

The Chiefs waived WR Jason Brownlee yesterday to make room for Rice on the active roster. So if they make a trade they will have to come up with a roster spot. Moving Hunt in the trade would free up the spot.

You could technically ship them Elijah Mitchell in the trade. He's basically been a healthy scratch all season since Brashard Smith proved to be get enough to be active each week. Not sure who would sit on games days if they did that though.

I'm not as sure as you but they're probably still two favorites. Both look more invincible than past but Chiefs are starting to turn corner. I'd be more confident in the above if both can still win their divisions
