JTS Improvements - Want More

I don't question the need for adequate drainage, just the manner and location in which they've chosen to achieve it. We're an engineering school, for cryin' out loud ... this is the best they could come up with?!?

My biggest beef is that is is right outside the main facade of the Alumni Center. Picture this: a nice Holiday gathering or even a Wedding overlooking the focal point wall of windows, only to gaze upon ... an open drainage ditch. Womp, womp

The view is of a parking lot and you're complaining about drainage ditches? SMH

You could have underground drainage throughout the entire parking lot and not need any drainage ditches but it would be expensive as hell.

You guys won't believe what was there before they started working on Cytown! (It was a drainage ditch.)

A necessary eyesore being in a flood plain. I don't even think it looks terrible, but it would add a good number of parking spots if they weren't needed. If they could get seem trees or plants on the slopes that would help.

I’ll expect them to put some time, effort and money into better landscaping.

After CyTown is up and running, and generating a cash flow.

Pretty predictable they would've had to give it another go given they sodded it the week of the first game last fall.

I don’t think the area around the bridges was sodded. They just did the borders of the lots.

As you mentioned expensive... but also that type of drainage does not take near the amount of water and not nearly as fast as a ditch. There is a reason you see a lot of urban flash flooding today, drains and pipes dont handle nearly enough water fast enough for all the mass of paved spaces.

If money is unlimited, I was thinking to have pervious pavement with underground tanks.

I mean it's a flood plain in Iowa prairie ground. Not sure how much lipstick you can apply to make it appear what it isn't given the budget. Move on and accept what it is.

Just need the right shade of lipstick!!
