Okay, so they’re expanding the actual video board to the supports, right?
So……the next goal is one that extends beyond both supports?
It’s awesome (and overdue) to extend the video board the entire width. Excited to see it!Okay, so they’re expanding the actual video board to the supports, right?

Yep, and that sucks on the north end.The video board on the north goes end to end of the supports (logos will be gone). On the south end, the logos remain and the video board space will not change on that board.
I make a couple trips to the bathroom every night so I can take the 3:00am shift. We're gonna need someone monitoring the cam at all times now that it's facing JTS, might see some croots or even a Campbell spotting.
A couple? Rookie!I make a couple trips to the bathroom every night so I can take the 3:00am shift.
I like others would love to see the largest video boards as possible. The issue is MONEY I hope that everyone who posts on here are people who donate to the school for projects like this. If not don't complain that you are not getting what you want. It’s awesome (and overdue) to extend the video board the entire width. Excited to see it!
I am disappointed that Pollard changed the decision on the south board to NOT expand the full width (based on the latest info). The I-State and Big 12 logo “covers” or whatever the heck those things are look cheap as hell and faded to pink in like 4 days. Goodness those look cheesy. They did originally bid out both boards to extend the full width and I guess at some point we cheap’d out on the north one. Given our dinky little press box (ahhhh the horror!!), having 2 giant full-width video boards mirroring each other would have been a very unique and awesome ‘thing’ to draw people’s attention and provide a bit of a wow factor that Trice doesn’t really have, enhancing the environment in a way that would be well-worth the minuscule cost we “saved” by scaling back.
Edit. I’m going to get scolded by the JP Statue Guild here ain’t I![]()
I thought they were free... just pick a size and we are good!I like others would love to see the largest video boards as possible. @NickJoos being on a message board giving fans the facts is amazing! Thanks Nick! The video board on the north goes end to end of the supports (logos will be gone). On the south end, the logos remain and the video board space will not change on that board.
Hopefully they can get it done between FB seasons. It looks like the city and university have agreed to a plan to finally extend S 16th Street with 4 lanes to University Blvd. This is long overdue and should help a lot with post game traffic. I don't know the timeline for completion.
The sooner, the better. Need to complete it before a season starts. Can't imaging how ugly it would be having construction happening during the Football season. It looks like the city and university have agreed to a plan to finally extend S 16th Street with 4 lanes to University Blvd. This is long overdue and should help a lot with post game traffic. If they havent started is that even remotely possible for 2025?From the City of Ames:
"The construction will be completed in two phases with the east side of the project occurring in the 2025 construction season and the west of the project occurring in the 2026 construction season. The contractor will be required to be substantially complete with each phase’s construction activities prior to the Iowa State University football season."
Would be a tall task with weather in Iowa.If they havent started is that even remotely possible for 2025?
This makes sense to do it in 2 phases. It's a sizable project. From the City of Ames:
