When they replace the nez screen they should just put the current one on the other side facing the tailgate lots. I'm sure that would be easy and require no engineering at all.

I’m sure that Mid-American Energy would not agree to that because they are paying $25M for the stadium naming rights which is going towards the SPC. Also, that could discourage some people from buying game tickets.

Did the university own that or did they buy it off of the guy who used to drive it?
Last I knew it was private (Tantara Trucking in Muscatine, IA) that was the "official" hauler of Hawkeye football, but IIRC there was some disagreement between them last year so that might be changed for this season. I would see these ugly trucks in town all the time over here.

I'll give credit to that trucking company for standing up against the racist behavior and dropped the Hoks transport needs.

I’m going to go out on a limb here, and say that the pattern in the sod isn’t a result of how the blades were leaning after being unrolled. Not after all these weeks, and certainly not after being mowed.

Based on my extensive experience (jimlad) as a student lab and field assistant in the Agronomy Department for a whole year thirty years ago, I’m going to say that if the two grasses are the same strain, then one set of rolls was taken from a plot with more fertile soil than the other.

That’ll even out over time, as the sod takes root in the richer soil beneath. What was the word for it? Ah yes—“amended”.

In the meantime, take a closer look. It struck me a bit ago. What we actually have here is an amended, undulating agronomical Jack Trice Stripes sculpture—the retaining wall is the “bottom”

How fitting! :jimlad:

Interesting to see who can’t get a joke. Did I really need another jimlad?

So…about the same time we’ll be getting a new video board.

With the rate of construction at JTS the last decade, it'll probably happen whenever we decide to do something new with the NEZ.

Would love to someday see a new building for the AD offices mirroring the SPC (it kind of sticks out on its own right now, but paired with a mirrored building it could look really nice), then knock down the Jake and put something in the NEZ like what's in the south.

What really needs a new video board is hilton. That thing's about 15-16 years old.

That's impossible. We were all told that they didn't put enough water on the new sod in the extreme heat. Next you're going to try to tell us that an ag school knows how to grow grass.

Along with that the undergrad turf grass management program is rated #3 in the country according to a google search.
