Josh Davis

OMG OMG OMG! Another transfer thread! I so missed this part of the offseason...

:pconfused:

I do remember hearing back when he was first awarded it that his dad was a big booster so the money wasn't a big deal and we had an open scholarship and gave it to Bubu because he earned it and helped our team GPA. Don't know if any of that is true but I know I read that somewhere on here before

I don't think anyone would be shocked if that was the case.

Forgot that Davis can play immediately.. He would likely fight for minutes with Niang, Ejim, and Gibson for that matter. Would likely see poultry minutes off the bench. Would be a good replacement for Ejim next year, but if memory serves he only has one year of eligibility.

Don't forget that Fred is going to play his best players. If we were to get Davis and he, Ejim and Niang were our 3 best players, you could easily see a starting lineup go PG, SG, Ejim, Niang and Davis.

Would definitely be a change in flavor from last years team.

Not that big of a change. Last year our most common lineup was 3 forwards and 2 guards, unless you consider Clyburn a guard. He could handle the ball better than Ejim can, though. It would be interesting to see how it would work.

Here's a video of Edozie. It's boring but you can see that he's certainly put together. Looks like a physical garbage man to me.

I could definitely see us pulling Edozie's scholarship and giving it to Josh Davis. IMO Edozie definitely under performed averaging 5.6 ppg and 6.5 rpg this season. Especially considering he played on a team that has no other known division 1 signee on the roster. I'm sure the staff would much rather have a guy like Josh Davis who will be a RS Sr and averaged 17.6 ppg and 10.7 rpg this season. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Not impressed at all. This may sound harsh just from one tape, but it looks like he lacks the skills for a Big 12 player, I think Fred was really desperate for a big guy commit. Hopefully Niang stays out of foul trouble. Booker played garbage minutes for the second half of the season, I would take Booker in a heartbeat over this guy. Sorry, maybe I am wrong, but his numbers are not impressive for a future big 12 player.

I'm glad we are in his top 4 if he was to sign with ISU I think next years starting lineup would be interesting...

You would expect Georges to improve his rebounding next year. Add this guy to that and Ejim and we just might collect every rebound next season.

Davis, Niang and Ejim would be our best 3 players so all three would start and coexist, IMO. Percy would have a hard time getting significant minutes, but that's the way life works.

As others have said, Fred can and will at some point field a conventional team and these 3 post players + 2 guards would be a no-brainer.

Our starting forwards would average around 40+ points. That would take a lot of pressure off of our guards.

Wait a minute. In the other thread you said you would rather have Davis. In this thread you aren't impressed with him. Is there anyone you like?

You are great at this 5 minute evaluation thing, by the way.

Think he might have been talking about Daniel Edoze

If you have good things to about Davis then go a head and say them. My only question is why does Edozie have to be bashed in the process? It is possible to say something good about Davis without bringing down Edozie. Especially if you have never seen Edozie play.

Wouldn't his minutes depend on the fowl situation?

We are just saying that I'm sure when he signed in mid November before the season started, the staff probably was expecting him to average a little more than 5.6 ppg and 6.5 ppg. You can pull a scholarship from someone if they don't perform at the level that you thought they were going to. Happens all the time.

Davis would be a better option for us IMO.

I don't have a problem with people saying Davis is better but things like, "He lacks the skill to be a Big 12 player."
"Hoiberg was desperate for a big man commit." Basically what I took from those things was Edozie sucks and he's a Cyclone because Hoiberg was desperate. Really? Nobody here has seen Edozie play. There's more to basketball than points. Will Edozie be a star? Probably not but there is obviously a reason why Fred gave him a scholarship. I think everybody should wait and see what happens before we say Edozie should be ran out of town and isn't a Big 12 caliber player. Bad speculation is pretty pointless, IMO.
