Jordan Railey

you stated that he was not a big12 player and even posted a link to a player you would like to see in a ISU uniform. At 8 in the morning, you are happy with a 10 game vacation. You slept on it, and took a step back. I'm proud of you.

Being committed is temporal, as such getting arrested twice in 4 months is not conducive to being a Big 12 player. You have to stay on the roster to be a Big 12 player.
I have posted articles and links about Gibson yesterday before JR was arrested. In another forum I said he had one more strike, right after I posted here.

Again, nothing in my thinking on this issue has changed. Please go back to thinking I am irrational.

Guys, just a heads up to keep it respectful. Debate is great and part of the function of a message board but be respectful to each other.

For a disorderly conduct? Prepare to be disappointed. At no time in the past few decades has an ISU BB player received a punishment of that level for a disorderly conduct ticket.

No, for proving that he has a decision making and lack of respect problem. He asked for a testing of his commitment level.

So you are saying it is your vision that is impaired? Better than your mind I guess.

Re: Jordan Railey

Not showing the commitment he needs to be a Big 12 player.

We already had a spot open, but maybe Mann can deliver Percy Gibson - Yahoo! Sports

Vision is fine. No, I did not dig through your history. You are not taking this compliment well.

The kid's obviously a moron, it doesn't really matter if they bring him back or not, he'll get in trouble again soon enough. You can't fix stupid with wind sprints.

That seems to be unfortunately true.

This seems minor, but he might not be a real learner on these things.

In the end, this seems like it will be inconsequential overall. People will have their perceptions, but they won't really matter a whole lot.

If Fred "just" gives him a punishment, people will play the "he'll just do anything to win," even though the odds of Jordan playing more than a couple of minutes per game are extremely low next year.

If he boots him off the team, we'll hear the questions as to why he would be so severe for such a small thing.

He needs to be smarter. But just wondering, are the cops in Ames decent or can they be jerks? Looking to bust jocks.

I've always said that the cops won't bother you unless you bring attention to yourself. I find it hard to believe you'd get arrested for something like this without doing something stupid that brought attention to you. Heck I walked by cops in Ames while in college when I was drunk and its pretty simple, keep your mouth shut and don't do anything stupid. Just keep walking to wherever you are headed and they won't bother you. Basically don't give them a reason to confront you.

Disorderly conduct could be just about anything. I believe if you look closely, it covers cursing in public in some jurisdictions. Will be interesting to know more details about the situation.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe it was for a fight after a house party was broken up. Will know more soon, had a good friend that was there.

.

Again, you are not understanding what I posted.
2 arrests in 4 months is not the commitment to be a Big 12 player by anyone on ISU's roster.

We already have a spot open- this means: not about Railey leaving, but maybe Mann can deliver Gibson. I have previously posted that I would like us to go after Gibson (and therefore he is not a replacement for Railey). IF we also have two spots open, why would I not use it as an opportunity to encourage discussion about Gibson again?

I stole the big inflatable Monday Night Football at Welch Ave. Station and only got caught because there was a cop parked right down the street who saw me running with it. I would have gotten away but my chubby accomplice was 20 yards behind me and I wasn't going to let him take the fall. We didn't even get a ticket becasue we were respectful with the cops...and the Welch Ave. employee thought it was funny.

I was a vapor trail. Heisman pose and everything.

Based on what? Can you provide me any examples of ISU BB players (or other athletes) being kicked off a team for a disorderly conduct ticket?

We obviously don't know all the details of his New Year's Eve accident but from the sound of everything that came out about it he probably got a VERY light punishment for the severity of it. This incident coming just months after that one is not going to help matters. Will be curious to see if the details of this incident comes out as to what really happened but for a kid already walking a fine line with his conduct he's not in a very good spot right now. You'd think he would have been a little more cautious about his actions after his first incident.

Really, so no athletes who have ever received two drinking-related tickets have ever cleaned up and stayed out of trouble afterward? I find that impossible to believe. Heck, I have several friends who had a couple alcohol related arrests in their late teens who have never been in trouble afterward, myself included.

Yet you claimed you didn't prop him up. I see. You get to have cake and eat it too. Awesome.

This is false. As far as I understand it, railey was completely hammered and was getting mad at ejim cause he wouldnt text him back fast enough (not 100% about that, but something along those lines apparently). then ejim showed up, railey threw a punch at him and boom, the cops arrived. I would think the cops are going easy on him with just disorderly conduct, cause he was obviously smashed.

Good lord I hope that's not true.

Disorderly Conduct? That's such a big deal......... not. Especially during VEISHEA when the cops are so trigger happy. He should be punished, but people saying he should be booted off the team are out of touch with reality.

Although, after reading more. If the "rumor" that he threw a punch at his own teammate is true, that's more serious. But, CF isn't exactly the most credible source.

Playing softball after drinking = moral degradation? What a load of BS Church Lady. I suggest pulling that stick out of your butt. If someone wants to have a couple beers before a softball game, it says absolutely nothing about their "morals."

Time to grow up. Adulthood does not start at 25-30 years old. The post seems to imply that poor judgement under the influence is no big deal, and should be accepted. My guess is the drinking age was raised to 21 in Iowa many years ago to help deter this line of decision making. Railey is underage(as was Homan), and will be lucky if he does not have alcohol related charges added to his latest debacle. This behavior is not acceptable to me, for someone who represents the University for which I am an alumnus and support with both my time and resources.

Just working on team chemistry for the Europe trip this summer...I don't see a problem here at all. Let's move along, nothing to see here.:jimlad::twitcy:
