Jordan Railey

Wow... its amazing to me how black n white this situation is... Lots of do gooders here, smh

I'd say he needs a carrot (something to strive for) & a kick in the ***.

No way do we kick him off the team... Thankfully BVD is gone/in Hoiberg I trust, he's no fly off the handle moralist. He's dealt with POS NBAers for a decade or so which gives him a much better point of view.

Do gooders keep telling us how we should live our lives or better yet STFU

It does not offend me that Jordan drinks, but he is apparently a slobbering idiot when he does and gets caught doing stupid things. This is a serious offense. Someone's got to teach this boy how to hang.

This is a non-expert guess on my part, since I never really run into them.

I'm guessing, given the time of the incident and the location, that they were pretty lenient on an underage guy who was likely clearly intoxicated and belligerent. My guess is that they went pretty easy on him with the disorderly conduct charge.

Reason why I ask is because according to the DMR, two guys squared off in an aggressive stance (Fight). Railey supposedly swung at the other guy. But the fight broke up and Railey walked away. Cops pursued Railey, if the fight had broken up WHY? And when confronted, Railey brushed them away and tried to keep walking.

Seems like the cops could have let it slide if they really wanted to give him a break.

We seem to have more than our share of minor occurrences with the law in comparison to other schools. Just wondering if it is our athletes and their attitudes or is it the attitude of law enforcement. I have known law officers who are complete ****** and look to bust people for no reason. And wondering if we have that in Ames.

Wasn't it about two weeks ago that this board went into meltdown mode because of the rumor of Anthony Tucker coming to play at ISU? I understand that what Jordan did probably wasn't that big of a deal but he obviously did something to get arrested. The kid probably just got out of Fred's doghouse and is already doing something stupid.

Also, Tucker and Railey look alike

The charge could very well be bogus as many of my student clients get charged just because police have a tendency to charge everyone involved. For example, if someone gets jumped and is defending themselves, the police generally charge everyone involved and let the judicial system sort it all out. Really no point in jumping to conclusions until all of the the facts are out. Here is the statute which makes it a simple misdemeanor to do a variety of things:

723.4 Disorderly conduct.

A person commits a simple misdemeanor when the person does any of the following:

1. Engages in fighting or violent behavior in any public place or in or near any lawful assembly of persons, provided, that participants in athletic contests may engage in such conduct which is reasonably related to that sport.

2. Makes loud and raucous noise in the vicinity of any residence or public building which causes unreasonable distress to the occupants thereof.

3. Directs abusive epithets or makes any threatening gesture which the person knows or reasonably should know is likely to provoke a violent reaction by another.

4. Without lawful authority or color of authority, the person disturbs any lawful assembly or meeting of persons by conduct intended to disrupt the meeting or assembly.

5. By words or action, initiates or circulates a report or warning of fire, epidemic, or other catastrophe, knowing such report to be false or such warning to be baseless.

I don't think this is true. We just know about all the incidents here, if a backup for K-State or someone is charged with disorderly conduct or something small, there's a good chance that we would never hear of it. All major colleges, especially in the midwest, have a culture of drinking and when people drink it leads to bad decisions sometimes.

As for what Railey did, I think kicking him off the team for this would be extreme, but for someone with very marginal B12 talent he will really need to watch his behavior over the next few years.

Many people will be quick to dismiss Railey, especially due to the transfers becoming eligible next season. I think it's important for these underclassmen to stay around the program for class balance...plus, I like his game. Railey has a nice touch for a big man, great potential on D, and has fire in his belly (reminds me of a young Homan at times). I think Railey and Godfrey will have important and necessary roles on this team over the next 2-4 years (4 if either of them redshirt). For these reasons, I hope Railey cleans up his act and finds a way to remain on this team.

At what times? He never played long enough to look like anyone. With our up tempo style now I dont see him being athletic enough to keep up and play much more that a role off the bench giving starters a rest and maybe pushing some other teams big guy around for awhile to wear them down some.

The meltdown had a lot to do with the fact that Tucker sucks at basketball. Railey seems to have potential and is already on scholarship.

You obviously never met the think tank of drinking buddies I had in college. Never one bad decision was made.

He should be. It hasn't even been four months since his last arrest. Fred needs to send a message (especially to some of the guys on the team who have been in trouble before), that you're not going to keep screwing up and get away with just a slap on the wrist.

You don't win championships with guys as good as Railey anyway.

My theory on players in trouble....

Great player + trouble = Keep them around no matter what.

Terrible player + trouble = Bye Bye.

Too bad Jordan is terrible. Adios.

I like your style, dude. That said I don't think Jordan is terrible...I'd put him in the 'decent with some high end potential jr/sr year' category.

I'm definitely disappointed in Jordan, and I'm in no way condoning his drunkenness. Definitely sounds like he was too drunk to control himself.

That said, I couldn't count on two hands the times in college where I might have got into an "aggressive stance" or a minor pushing match/ staring contest. And I'm pretty sure a lot of CF posters could say the same. I just never got caught in that situation in front of police.

The coaching staff will know 100 times more about this situation than any one of us. I'll let them make there decision without vehemently proclaiming my opinion. Because what any of us "think" should happen to him won't make a bit of difference in what will happen. It's just wasted time.
