How about we give the guy a chance and not throw him under the bus after 2 practices?

Watching him the state championship game he looked like a great athlete and he carried his team, but competition wasn't elite and his throwing motion did not look like a college QB.

Err, what? I may be biased as a Cedar Rapids Xavier fan, but if you think a team that was 13-0, won the MVC, trounced most of their competition with the continuous clock in about 80 percent of their games including playoffs, set about two dozen school records (including most interceptions by one of their corners), and had one of the state's top defenses in both points and yards allowed not "elite," well ... what does "elite" mean to you? Not to mention Xavier led that game the entire second half, up to the last couple of minutes.

Lanning was pretty darn great in that game, both athletically and with his decision-making. I'm hoping he can get in the mix somewhere for the Cyclones in the next few years.

I really hope CPR was talking about Lanning having a metaphorical cannon. Because a real cannon in the dorms is probably a violation of residence hall code. Unless its just a replica civil war cannon, I hear those are acceptable if you are a history major.

At least he didn't say he "literally has a cannon." Because that would violate a lot of rules. Grammar rules, mostly.

I would love to see a "joel-dozer" goaline package, similar to Oklahoma's. Except Joel knows how to throw a football, as well as run, unlike that kid at OK.

Interesting thought, though. . . . Using similies in email or telephone conversations could bring Homeland Security on the run.

Oklahoma people are saying the Bell can throw too. "We don't recruit QBs who aren't great passers." Again, I would love to see us using a bigger QB with a nice arm. All in due time.

I hope Lanning gets on CF and sees a 7 page thread seemingly about him, and then gets disappointed when he actually looks at it.
