Hi. Captain poopie-pants here. I never gave much of a whoop-de-doo for the novelty uniform craze. Sure, it's fun, and I appreciate any attempts to honor Jack Trice but I would be happy if the whole "special jersey" silliness would go away. It is frivolous noise and has no bearing on the game. The worst part is how overdressed and pathetic a team looks after they lose the big exciting "special jersey" game after getting all amped up about the clothes. I never hear anyone say after losing one of these games, "Sure, the other team got the win, but our boys looked FABULOUS." Let's let football be football and let Liberace rest in peace.

There comes a time when one is traversing the internet message boardy thingies, when one realizes..."Hey, <insert town name>....I'm close enough to go and kick that guy's arse." Now is that time for me. Better watch it, pal...

:jimlad:

While I have had my employer's training on respecting others' viewpoints and how diverse thought leads to better solutions, there's a point where that stops....again, now is that point.

Seriously, I could understand your point if

A: ISU had "Iconic" uniforms that shouldn't be messed with. I'm trying to remember how many uniforms ISU has had since 'me olden days' in the early '90's...and none of them have been associated with prolonged winning, unless you count how we're supposedly a clone of USC. So I'm not particularly attached to any uniform.

Or

B: it was some random, 'extreme' or 'elite' *translation: some fancypants designer got into some computer program and made some schitt up* uniform style.

This uniform is based on something and considering the guy died...means something.

the color of gold on the throw backs is the shade we should have, not the bright yellow we currently have.

What makes the most sense is that we use these against Iowa every year. We then have our normal home/aways. Supplement those with a Oregon-esque uni with a storm cloud into a metallic cardinal/gold helmet. Those to be worn once on biggest national broadcast game. Supplement that with everyone's all white with white helmet to be worn against OU or OSU road game. Then everyone is happy.

They're selling game worn jerseys after the game is over. Sure looks to me like ISU is planning on wearing these just once.

Travis & Tim: Tim thinks these should be worn for the Kansas game as opposed to the Iowa game.

Tim just likes to take an opposing view for the sake of doing it.
Tim's logic: Spend a quarter million dollars on jerseys and wear them in a game nobody outside Iowa and Kansas will see. Makes sense to me.

Ahhh, but those that do see it will tune in longer and may remember ISU. Yippee!

I was going to say that the Iowa game is basically the same scenario however after looking at the TV schedule that evening ISU/Iowa may be one of the better games on TV that night.

I really do wish this was for the UT game. If the Tulsa and Iowa game were swapped, at least during the UT game, they could show highlights and recaps of the Iowa game with those jerseys and kind of due a summary of the throwbacks, but having that Tulsa game in between. This story will get swallowed up into oblivion I think.

I hear what you guys are saying about liking the gold but that dark gold with our dark cardinal is one hella dark, muted uniform that would look like crap on TV and/or under the lights.

Plus we already have enough of an identity crisis among fans as to which shade of cardinal/red we are, changing the gold tone would just make things even more confusing

I don't have access to my photoshop right now. Is there someone who could do the throwback as an away uni? White background, gold stripes, cardinal numbers? Maybe even the *gasp* white helmet!

Why some of you even listen to that, I'll never understand. I seriously can't remember the last time I tuned into KXNO. It's been many, many months and may be close to a year.

These guys love trolling many of you - and it works. Their content sucks so the only way they can get listeners is to **** people off. Some just walk away and others just listen more so they can call in and "give it to 'em".

Yeah, you showed them alright...

There's no identity crisis. Every teams colors vary. I'm a Yankees fan and you see a bunch of shades of blue at Yankees games. It's really not a big deal. Look at the Rams, they went from yellow to gold pretty seamlessly. Look at Notre Dame, you see all types of shades of blue and gold/yellow on their merch.
