A question for the history buffs on here. What kind of formal honoring for Jack Trice's family has been done? I am assuming that when the stadium was named there was a big honoring, but I do not specifically remember that and I am assuming a fair amount of our fan base does not remember that specific event either, due to age, distance, etc.
Just thought it would be pretty special to honor them (again) at the Iowa game since the jerseys were going to be worn, plus no doubt some will have purchased the t-shirt version at various vendors. I would think that would make his family proud. Just a thought

I was thinking that too but then I figured he may not have hardly any family left. His parents, aunts and uncles would very likely all be gone, and even any close cousins may be gone now too. Maybe there would be some nieces or nephews. He would have had no heirs so maybe his Cyclone family is about the only family he has left. Would be interesting to know if anybody has tried to find any relatives, which I assume would be in the Cleveland area.

Pretty sure his mom is 147 and still living in the Cleveland area. I can't vouch for close cousins.

I'm actually tracing the ancestry of various family members related to Jack Trice. Most settled in the Ohio and California areas. When Jack's widow Cora Mae remarried, she had two daughters and one son. Of course, I will share if anything interesting pops up.

EDIT: deleted typo.

I don't understand this part.

Yeah me either. Yikes. What I meant to say was that the children from that second marriage clearly weren't related to Jack by blood. Geez, too much time spent staring at genealogy trees has scrambled my brain.
Just an honest question, but wouldn't it be better to look for jack's nieces and nephews? Would the children/grandchildren of that second marriage would care about jack more than the average person?

I am as well. For example, George Trice mentioned above--his grandfather was Jack's first cousin.

Anybody know the RGB of the throwback cardinal and gold?

The cardinal is much darker and the gold much more... "metallic" and less yellow, bright, like our current ones.

I would wonder what recoloring the current look would look like with the darker gold, especially.

So, anybody know the RGBs there? Thanks.

What makes the most sense is that we use these against Iowa every year. We then have our normal home/aways. Supplement those with a Oregon-esque uni with a storm cloud into a metallic cardinal/gold helmet. Those to be worn once on biggest national broadcast game. Supplement that with everyone's all white with white helmet to be worn against OU or OSU road game. Then everyone is happy.

I like this, except for don't need to wear Trice unis each year vs Iowa, just have those four options in our arsenal.

Sort of answers...

Earlier here was a picture from J.Kagavi on pg 36 w some other colors:

...And the current I-State logo technically has two shades of red and two shades of yellow/gold, unfortunately seems like we've gravitated back to the ketchup and mustard over the last couple years. Here are the RGBs for the two darker shades, might be close to the colors you are asking about:

Of course you are! You just keep giving and giving to us. How did you ever get so interested in doing this sort of research?

And are you going to have any more throwback shirts for us? I would love to see a Jack Trice shirt designed by you.
