ISU Up to #6

I think the absolute coolest stat about this team is that so far this season no cyclone player has been selected as Big 12 player if the week. That sums it all up right there folks.

We're not a team made up of 1 or 2 superstars and some role players. Our entire roster is role players, several of whom could go off for 20+ on any given night. Everyone plays for everyone else with total selflessness.

You want to see what a team's chemistry really is? Watch the bench during the game. I've never seen so much celebration for teammates. Conrad Hawley hardly ever gets into the game, but what he has done for the morale of this team is immeasurable.

Iowa State is the epitome of a team that's greater than the sum of its parts, and that is incredibly refreshing in this era of semi pro college basketball.

If we can somehow win the Big 12 a cool ballot might be five ISU players but entire 2nd or 3rd team. None of our players have 1st team stats but almost everybody with serious minutes could be argued for 3rd team if you only look at Big 12 numbers and consider defense.

Saw projections giving Baylor the 2 seed over us!
It's a slippery slope. If Baylor 3 seed beats Kansas 6 seed the semis will be a true Hilton South. Then we'd have to at minimum beat Baylor to get the seed over them. Now I'm guessing the geeks will say that may not even be enough.

Best part of that is the "experts" would consider that "neutral floor".

That was what I noticed first when TJ took over. The entire team is having fun. It’s been like that all three years but this team even more so. The last few teams of Prohm’s had little to no chemistry and didn’t look to be having fun, even when winning.

Hell, that 2019 team that was his last to make the tournament was getting in fights out on the court

Honestly, if winning the conference championship is the difference between a 1 and 2 seed, I'd just as soon lose earlier and take the 2 seed. Winning the conference tourney is likely a rubber match against Houston, and while it would be awesome to take 2 of 3 from them, that game would be brutal physically. I'd rather the team rest up a bit before the real tourney takes place.

Not to sidetrack the thread but I think TJ and Fen should both be B12 coaches of the year.

I agree with you but I think TJ has a shot, but Bill will be passed over once again, and Jenny B at OU will get it. In all of Bill's yrs here I'm pretty sure he has never won COY.

I remember it so well because of the unending coverage we received year after year after year....I was scarred.
If we get a two seed this year- that’s all the announcers will talk about every single game we play In the tournament.
It would almost be fun if Caesar’s put out an over/under for each game on how many times our loss as a #2 seed is brought up by the announcers in each game.

A 1 seed provides an easier path to the Final Four. ISU wouldn't have to play Purdue or UConn until reaching the Final Four. Playing Purdue in Detroit in an Elite 8 matchup would be much more difficult than playing them in Phoenix in a Final Four matchup.

2 seed and Omaha sounds gr8 to me, or even the best 3 seed and Omaha, I'll take it. Don't need the 1.

2 seed or 3 seed really doesn’t matter since the current 2s and 3s are so bunched together. 2 should get a slightly better second round matchup but that’s about it. As long as we are in Omaha, doesn’t matter too much what we get. But I’d really like a 2-seed to reward this current team by matching the best seed in ISU history.
