ISU Bowl Projection

Why are so many people predicting Memphis in Memphis again? What is the actual thought process for that
I think people are predicting it (at least in ISU circles) so much in hopes to talk it out of existence by adding negative reactions to said prediction.

We all know that basically no one would attend, so hopefully bowl reps/ADs do what they can to make sure that this isn't the matchup.

The Big 12 absolutely wants 2 teams in.

Think of it this way, It's almost 2 am, last call, and there are 2 chicks ready to accompany you back to your dorm room instead of one. You take both and see what happens.
Not if your odds with 1 are strong, but by brining two you end up losing out on both.

Ditch BYU and go all in on Tech, unless getting 2 in the CFP makes ISU millions more than getting 1 in.

Ugh, Brett McMurphy has changed his projection to this:

Liberty Bowl (Jan. 2)
Memphis, Tenn.
Iowa State vs. Tulane

He has USC vs. BYU in Alamo (San Antonio), has Houston vs. UTSA in Texas Bowl (Houston) & K-State vs. Minnesota in the Rate Bowl (Phoenix).
Tulane in the Liberty Bowl is fine. At least they were once an SEC Team! They have also played in the Rose, Sugar and Cotton Bowls in their history. I have no issue playing Tulane in the Liberty Bowl.

Ugh, that's a giant hell no for me, dawg.

We already have Tulane scheduled for a home & home in 2028 & 2029.

We've been to Memphis too much. Weather will probably be crap.

Plus, non-P4 schools have such motivation to beat P4 schools in bowl games. It's a lose/lose type of matchup for ISU. Beat Tulane? Well yeah, ISU should have, not impressive. Lose to them? Prepare to get made fun of.

I want to play Big 10, ACC, & SEC teams in bowl games. Period. I HATE playing G5 schools in bowl games. Non-conf September games are for playing G5.

It's actually a Win-lose. Beat Tulane and finish 9-4 or lose to Tulane and finish 8-5. I'd much rather ISU be 9-4 with their 5th 9 win season than lose.

As for the opponent, I would rather ISU play a P4 school too, but at least playing Tulane @ Liberty Bowl is better than playing Memphis @ Liberty Bowl. The Greenies actually have a richer Bowl history than ISU.

Either way, It will be what it will be!

Let's Go State!

Probably not but it isn't unprecedented. I believe Minnesota was in their second of back to back years when we faced them in the Insight Bowl. It was also their third visit in four years. But to the point, Gopher fan attendance was down that year.
The Goophers are now a Detroit bowl staple, three appearances in the past decade.

Why would I want your first born? I am done raising mine and they are out and independent. I don't want to pick up more responsibilities at this stage.
Or your first born is six months old and daughter from another mother

BYU’s not going to jump anyone if they lose. They’re not going to get an at-large.

They should be ranked above ND, but they aren’t and haven’t been. It’s not worth having a meltdown about at this point. It’s just a reality.
This is why I am a firm believer in the face that SEC, Big Ten & ND voters play the long game in polls. Place your team high throughout the first 7-8 weeks. In that manner they would have to shi$ their pant in dropping to far at the end of the season.

You had to much to drink thinking the poster above the urinal is real.

Yeah, if you have enough of the conference ranked, the teams that get exposed for frauds will simply be replaced by whatever in conference team did it, or another mediocre conference team that had a good week.

As a non-religious person, I would love to hear arguments as to why it makes sense that religious organizations would be amassing obscene levels of wealth.

They’ve done pretty well for themselves in a couple hundred years.
I can say those numbers can be a little deceiving at times. I know many local churches in our small town are valued by the assessor at close to 1MM dollars. They are tax exempt so I’m sure they don’t fight it as they only pay special assessments that are non value based. The few times a church closed the structure would either sit empty or sell for 10k or so for someone trying to convert it to a house.

I’m guessing their huge cathedrals are valued for very large sums but in realistic terms, they would be far from that. That would not be all of that 200 some billion but could make up a good chunk. There are close to 20,000 Catholic Churches in the US, if you say they are all small town churches valued at 500k, that is 10 billion worth of churches alone, and you know some large town churches would be valued at several million instead.

Tulane in the Liberty Bowl would be awful. We already play them twice in the next 5 years.
