ISU #13 in both polls

Teams that im confident we are better than that are ranked above us imo

Villanova
wsu
Virginia
unc

If we're talking confidence head-to-head, I'll give you Virginia. I'll take a wait-and-see for Nova and Wichita State. North Carolina, I'm not betting on that one, yet.

With the games that have been played, if I was a voter, I wouldn't rank ISU any higher than it is right now ... removing my biased opinion as a fan.

I don't doubt the potential of this team, by any means ... this opinion is results-based. (There's also a chance I might elevate a few other teams above Iowa State, based on that, but ... I don't feel like it.)

Where's Iowa ranked after making the 2k classic final four run this past weekend?

After further review they may have lost to Creighton

It was the epic fashion in which they lost to Creighton that got them dumped from the top 25. Blowing an 18 point 2nd half lead... yeah voters are going to remember that.

I kind of question UNC and Villanova a little, other than that I totally get why every team would be ahead of us.

WVU probably should have been getting more hype than they got Big 12 and national...on the flip side I was right that it was pretty dumb for the national media to cream their pants over a 19 win, 0 NCAA wins all time program bringing back all its starters (hint: Nebraska).

Yeah looks like they dropped out of the AP poll. That's crazy.

Yeah fell apart against Creighton. Creighton is now ranked and I think OU wins 8 out of 10 against them.

Nice to see Arky ranked...hope it stays for when we beat them.

Be nice, if there were not stickers on the court, they would have won. They also lost to a team that cheated the game of basketball by fouling over and over again in foul/defend situations.

SMH coaches poll has UCONN ahead of WVU

WVU is going to have to fight the lack of preseason hype we had the previous two years (and like us they likely should have had some). It's a blessing for them they beat UCONN so early because they won't have to put up some sort of 8-0 or 9-0 record to even crack the rankings like we did last year.

That whole argument made me wonder how many Iowa basketball fans aren't even familiar with the sport or never followed it until Mad Fran ball? I mean, you'd have to think a large % of their fans have never watched basketball before that so many of them consider late game fouling to be cheating. It's like thinking that a football team is cheating for running the ball to kill the clock late in games.

We were ranked 21st after beating Michigan and starting 3-0..

Interesting to see UNI come in with 17 votes, didn't realize any of their wins were considered good.

I think Stephen F Austin was riding the longest home streak in the country when UNI went down there last week, so there attention from voters might be short lived, but that was a decent win.

Wow, so they should have dropped because of a 14 point win against Iowa on a neutral court without any losses? Derp.

I was saying winning by that much vs Iowa should drop you. I wasn't directing my comments towards the poll makers but on a message board. Derp. Shouldn't you be crying in the fb thread or beating your wife right now?

He must be thinking of 99-00 when the team had to go 18-3 including losses to #1 and #17 (2OT on the road) and a win over #14 before getting ranked.

Yeah, i knew just after I typed it that the Michigan game got us ranked...but it's simply true that if you're not a name team it is really hard to break the rankings...unless you're a Big Ten team then you get ranked because you had 19 wins the year before, got blown out in an NIT game, got blown out by Baylor in last year's first round, etc...

Basically WVU could have gone 8-0 and they weren't cracking the ratings until they got a win like that over a name team...like ours over Michigan.
