Is Purdy the guy?

Purdy was the Missing piece on this offense. We're now fully utilizing all the great skill position players we have.

Seneca was faster and could run away from everyone, but I think Purdy is better at juking and faking out the defender. Both have great feet. I have been following ISU for 35 years. Those two are in a class by themselves.

Agree. IMO the last half of Seneca’s. Senior year, that Seneca just didn’t put himself at risk anymore. Can’t blame him. Looking at a Pro Career and our O Line was not that good. Why risk injury?

Purdy was so good under pressure yesterday, not by freshman standards, but by any standard. That was the most impressive thing. He was instrumental in keeping the defense rested when I'm not sure who would play in the middle if Jamahl Johnson would need a breather. I don't know if he came out for a single defensive play.

Isaiah Lee came in for jamahl Johnson

I like Purdy's mobility, but let's not overdo it. I'll just assume you never saw Seneca on a scramble.

Yeah, Purdy is quick and decently mobile. He will be a threat to pick up yards when he keeps the ball. He'll be great with the zone read, where he can fake the handoff, and make a cut into a seam upfield. But from what I've seen so far, I don't think he has elite speed. I will be shocked if we see him ever take a ball wide and beat somebody to the corner.

Johnson came out for a lot of plays. I think they were subbing him out on a lot of passing downs.

Without a doubt!! The kid has overcome everything thrown at him, and then some. Blitzes, penalties, of which there were way too many... Plus when he runs, he continues to look for options downfield. This guy is the real deal, and has the potential to get us places only a QB of his caliber can.

Yeah, the RPO went from "why run it" to absolutely lethal.

If Purdy and the OL continue to improve there is no reason this can’t be a top-20 team. Selfishly I hope to see DM and Butler play with an experienced Purdy and good OL next year. Assuming our first game would not be canceled, next year would be special.
