IOWA vs IOWA STATE

While I don't like fast-forwarding my life, I can already taste Friday's game. I'm not one to overemphasize the instate rivalry stuff, but I want to bury you Hawkeyes so far underneath the floor that if you ever again have the fleeting idea of winning at Hilton Coliseum it instantly fills your heads with fear.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Gesell guard Kane for much of the game. He's smaller but a really good defender and he doesn't need to produce on offense.

If they put Marble on Kane I think that is exactly what happens and as deep as Iowa is, Marble is their most irreplaceable player. The good thing for us is that they have no other guard to matchup with him. Gessell isn't going to guard him and Basabe or White sure as hell won't.

If Marble goes cold or gets in foul trouble I don't think Iowa has much of a chance, that will be a key for ISU. He is their one guy who can create points by himself off the dribble or really attacking. Most of the rest of their team scores (and very well) off of FTs, transition buckets, and open 3s.

The matchups will be really fun in this one.

Yes, Marble can get into foul trouble, but so can Kane. If Kane gets into foul trouble trying to guard Marble than who is going to guard Marble? He is 6'6. You can't put Morris on him, Thomas is not quick enough. We need Hogue and Ejim to help down low. I guess it will be Naz Long, even though he gives up 3 inches and maybe some quickness. Also, who guards White? Last year Ejim tried to but he got his @SS handed to him and ended up in foul trouble.

We will only need to worry about aaron white and Marble, but I feel that is about it. Defensively we match up almost perfectly to stop them. Honestly I think Woodbury is almost a nonfactor since he is out for a huge portion of the game. GO CLONES.

This and the previous CBS article about Iowa last two games prowess are somewhat funny. That said, the quote about the giant slayers sounds like it was taken from HN.:rolleyes:
