***Iowa Pregame Thread***

I didn’t intend to get in the middle of your personal vendetta with Iowa. If belittling them and sticking it in their faces is important to you then have at it.
This is a rivalry thread. If you find that it's too far beneath you, I suggest you visit other threads which are more suitable to your advanced intellect.

I think we’ll win, but I’m going to pee in our Cheerios a little bit.

Do we know if we’ve beaten anybody who’s any good yet? We think K-State’s performance against North Dakota was just a letdown after losing to us in Ireland, but what if they’re a 6-6 kind of team? We think South Dakota is one of the best teams in FCS, but what if, after all their losses to the portal, they aren’t even a playoff team?

This was the second game in a row where the pass defense didn’t look great. Things tightened up after the game got out of hand, but for a while there in the first half it felt like South Dakota was moving the ball at will through the air. We still don’t have any sacks. With Iowa’s struggles passing the ball, you’d like to think we could commit to stopping the run and make whoever their QB is try to beat us through the air, but I’d feel a whole lot more comfortable if we were getting to the QB. If it’s a low scoring game, a big play or two could be the difference.

I still have some concerns about our offense. Carson Hansen had 9 rushes for 19 yards against a rebuilt FCS defense. Dylan Lee looked good but it was all in garbage time. Our TE’s have been excellent, but we still need more production from our WRs at some point.

Again, I like ISU to beat Iowa, but I’m expecting it to be a nail biter.

It’s a rivalry game. They’re a well coached team. So are we. Rivalry games are weird. 9/10 times this game is gonna be decided by one score.

I think we can win. I think we should win. However, we’ve **** the bed for years at home against them so I want to see it to believe it.

But man oh man would an ass kicking feel gooooooood.

Hope our guys make EIU look like road kill on I-80. Just run over them again and again. **** Iowa.

It worries me that gronowski is mobile. That’s been the kryptonite of this defense.

On the plus side, I don’t think ISU gives up 310 rushing yards

Rocco Becht’s first pass: 66 yards
Iowa’s QBs all game: 48 yards

Clearly Iowa will lean on the run game. We’ll need a lot of run support from LBs and Safeties. In Heacock I trust.

I will say I’m slightly concerned about the ISU pass rush after today’s game. I will say I was at the game, so I don’t know what sort of looks we gave USD or if we even sent a lot of pressure/blitz packages. But that was an undersized OL and I don’t think we even had a sack today (definitely didn’t with the starters) and didn’t force a ton of pressure
We didn't need to. A three man front is not going to often bring pressure without rushing a LB or safety as a minimum as well.

I low key hate that Gronowski played like butt yesterday. He's going to want to atone for that and set the world on fire and he knows there's no better time than against a rival on national TV.

That said, I think we are a far superior team this year and we are due to win at the Jack by about 17.

I'm hoping last year finally got the boogeyman off our backs (is that even a common phrase idk lol) so we can play open and free. Rocco and the team have beat them and that Campbell plays to win and not playing scared.

He doesn't look all that mobile to me. If they try to run him much, I have a feeling they'll have to carry him off the field.

He’s mobile but doesn’t have breakaway speed compared to other quarterbacks like Avery Johnson or Jalon Daniels who give us trouble. He’s a very physical runner so going to have to tackle well next Saturday.
