***Iowa Pregame Thread***

Iowa reminds me of Kansas State. QB is a running back first, passer second. And not a very accurate passer.

Game will be decided by Iowa’s run offense vs ISU’s run defense. I think ISU can move the ball against their defense. It likely will be another one score game though.

Just win the turnover battle and play a clean game.
Our TE’s are gonna be a big problem for Iowa’s inexperienced LB’s. I just don’t see how they match up with us.

I'm going to nervous as **** next Sat. We rarely blow them out when we win. Iowa will be motivated to give KF the all time big 10 wins record at our expense.

I'll take it!!

This game reminds me of when we had Brock, Kohler, recievers everywhere, McDonald Montgomery and we were supposed to win somewhat heavily at home and lost.
Those weather delays really effed things up. Everything was going well for us and those delays gave Iowa time to go back to the drawing board.

I’m putting absolutely zero stock into Iowa’s game today when thinking about next week. Kirk always has his guys ready to go for their Super Bowl. Heck, what Iowa State has done the first two weeks also means nothing in this game. It’s always weird and it’s always close. Cyclones will need to play an A game to win.

Haven’t beat these clowns at home since I was in 4th grade. It’s time.

Well, I imagine we're gonna be ranked in the top 20 next week and Iowa will be unranked, so this year's CyHawk game will once again be Iowa's Super Bowl.

Iowa looks really bad... Defense doesn’t look as solid as normal.

The Albany offense showing signs of life will hopefully give Mouser enough ammo to know where to attack.

As for the Iowa offense, I don't know if we learned much. They resorted to just pounding the ball to muscle out a respectable win (score wise anyway). Not sure that really gives Heacock much to work with. Fortunately, he usually doesn't need much.

I’m kinda over the ‘this is their super bowl’ rhetoric. Both teams hate each other. Both teams want this game just as bad as the other team.

It’s a rivalry game. I think we LOOK like the better team. That doesn’t mean anything.

That being said as of right now I think we win by 10+ for the first time in forever.

If there is a guy on Iowa that concerns me it's Wetjen. Mostly on Special Teams but also a bit on offense.

Agree. Just punt the dam thing out of bounds and take your chances with their offense. I know that is easier said than done.

I will say I’m slightly concerned about the ISU pass rush after today’s game. I will say I was at the game, so I don’t know what sort of looks we gave USD or if we even sent a lot of pressure/blitz packages. But that was an undersized OL and I don’t think we even had a sack today (definitely didn’t with the starters) and didn’t force a ton of pressure

At what point will Iowa fans realize that it’s the offense and scheme that sucks and not the QB?

44 passing yards for this $2+ million man, lol.

Did Petras ever put up numbers this pathetic? They practically ran that kid out of town.

We were pretty damn vanilla as far as the pass rush goes. Not a lot of blitzing.

Remember the year Iowa had to block two UNI FGs to eek out a win? What happened the week after that is why I can never get all that confident about this game.

That said, I really do feel like we are simply better across the board and most positions. Our O-line against their D-front will be key, along with special teams.

McNamara: 12/22 123 yards and a pick
Petras: 11/21 106 yards and a TD
Stanley: 22/35 201 yards
Stanley: 27/41 333 yards 5 TDs
Beathard: 15/25 215 and 3 TDs
Rudock: 14/23 160 yards 2 TDs

All of those were wins in Ames for Iowa.

Iowa isn’t going to turn it over.
Iowa is likely to be better on special teams.

We have shown zero ability to run the ball and Rocco has played 1 great half against Iowa and 3 halves comparable to the Iowa QBs.

ISU can and should win but nothing to me suggests we will score a lot of points. I would be really happy to be surprised. It would be nice to get off to a fast start against Iowa because we have been TERRIBLE offensively in the first half of every Iowa game of the Campbell tenure.
