Interesting article from the 'Couch Burners'

I was thinking about this yesterday. Which Big 12 school do I hate the most when you combine basketball and football? Which Big 12 school is our biggest rival, overall? It has to be between WV or KState. I used to hate KState more, but WV is closing that gap quickly.

I have a feeling BYU will rival our WV hate.
And what's crazy about the WV fans is that they were some of the most hospitable fans I've interacted with at an away game.

This is true and was never ever true in the past
I don't know. TV coverage and replay is so much better. As a kid I listened to the radio alot. Bet the screw jobs were as bad or worse. At least we all have video evidence these days, but the press still throws crap out there like this article. Anyone not watching would only think we played dirty and WVU overcame it. ********! Worst officiated rigged game I've ever watched. Huggins is out the door with his health so WVU's going to the tourney. ESPN and the conference is going to make it happen. Snyder got the treatment against us that year the flags were picked up also. Supposed to be his last season and they gave it to him. ******* came back for another if I remember right. Anyway, I'm in the "games are fixed" category these days.

There definitely weren't as many camera angles or the quality of slow motion replays. If they didn't replay it, you were only going to see it once, and just be left with the impression that something didn't look right with the call.

The only time Huggins showed any emotion during that 7 minute press conference was when he was talking about one of his players who was in the back of the room making fun of him. The relationship that Huggins develops with his players is something special. He seems like he would be brutal as a coach, but his players really like him. During one timeout, I saw a player put his elbow on Huggins' shoulder while they talked. At a Big 12 Conference game several years ago, I saw him really going after a player on the sideline (I think it was Javon Carter) and the player was really coming right back at him for a minute or so. It was fascinating to see. Those two had earned each other's respect.

Yeah that's a joke. WV shoves guys in the back on nearly every rebound, because they know the refs are likely watching the ball in the air and not the lane. They are literally coached how to foul and not get caught for advantage.

There is also the old problem of the ref having his attention drawn to the first contact, but seeing the response contact and calling that. My dad used to ref a lot in hs, and said that happened all the time. You just have to know that's a thing and not respond.

The problem is opponents get drawn into trying to match WV's "physicality" (ie Huggyball) and since they haven't been coached how to grab, shove, hip check, etc, they get called for it more often. Look at WV's home games, and their opponents are getting like 10 more fouls per game than WV. That's ludicrous. But it shows that Huggyball works. I will be thrilled when he retires, hate what he has done to the game.

To me there is a big difference between hate on the court/field and animosity between the fan bases. We all despised the flag game with KSU,and disliked Huggyball and Holgerson and the dude who bumped Wally in FB. Doesn't mean their fan bases are bad especially if you ignore the internet trolls. I've been to all but Austin and Lubbock and the only fans I've never really liked were OU they were just snobby and not very friendly, not personally mean.

In the first 10 conference matchups plus the Auburn game, those numbers have dropped significantly as he has shot 30/75 (40%) from the floor and 5/28 (17%) from deep, averaging 7.5 points

On Wednesday night, that slump came to an end as Matthews connected on 7/10 shots from the floor, posting a season-high 20 points in the win over No. 11 Iowa State.

of course he did
