In the Stands

About all I recall hearing in the stands was a not-so-subtle suggestion from the wife to change my strategy for in-game refreshment. I had declared I would take a pull of special sauce from my flask for every ISU 1st down and score. Her suggestion came about mid-1st quarter...

We figured that the spoon must have something to do with feeding Breece. I heard a KU fan talking before the game stating they should win because UNI almost beat them, I just turned around and smiled.
Well they did beat South Dakota.

Saw a few people in hawk gear…don’t get it.

I will never understand this. At best, they got a free ticket and had nothing better to do than go watch their rival play someone other than their team. At worst, they spent their own money to watch their rival play someone other than their team.

If I lived in Iowa City and was offered a free ticket to a game at Kinnick I’d have plenty more enjoyable things to do. And even if I went, I would not go in an ISU shirt.

There's a guy a few rows in front of me that is smarter than Campbell, Heacock, and Manning most games and let's our entire section know it when things go wrong. Surprisingly he was very quiet last night. Also he didn't cheer much. Weird.

Maybe. They are a weird group.

We sit in section 2 and I think I remember seeing them yesterday. What makes them weird compared all the others (saw a guy in biker shorts and kid t-shirt that let his belly show)?

I have 15-20 people that can verify this but we watched a guy blow on a plastic vuvuzela horn on the walk up the ramp to the west side stadium area and then stuff it down the back of his pants. We saw the moon before it came out and the group of us walking up behind him died laughing.

Guy a few rows in front of us waits until a lul then loudly yells (at the ISU bench) "MIKE ROSE IS A PUS**!"

I think it was some kind of inside joke or something ... several players on the bench looked and laughed, the guy waved, and they were all wearing cyclone gear. Maybe the wierdo uncle??? :)

I went when I was a student. I've went to CHA a couple of times for ISU/IA BB. To me it's not worth it because of the fans, even if we win it is still a unpleasant experience. I've been to plenty of other BB arenas so yeah it's a hawkeye thing.

Son went to IC a couple weeks ago to see a couple of his cousins and tailgate. Said it was the worst place he’d ever tailgated at. Was like driving to a Library and tailgating in their parking lot.

Not in the stands, but there were multiple parking attendant "staff" (college-age kids, in reality) wearing some type of Hawk clothing.
Lol, maybe looked something like this you see at every event? These crazy Iowa fans have taken over concerts and pretty much every sporting event I've ever been to.staff-yellow-black.jpg
